Or at least watching it? He should win pretty comfortably but it could well be an entertaining fight to some degree. Seems to have slipped under the radar a little
this aint gone under the radar its another big fight like the murray fight and don't forget its a big money fight ^ lol groves fans got to love them groves is two defeats away from obscurity any one who says other wises is in denial groves cannot afford another loss let alone a fight where he aint absolutely on banging form no more blame no more excuses I think they call it last chance saloon
He certainly needs to keep winning or he'll go back into obscurity. I don't think he'll want to come back and try again starting from the bottom to get another shot at it. With this in mind the fight is huge for him, I reckon he goes into every fight now knowing it could be his last. I don't know much about the opponent but having looked on Boxrec If Groves manages to stop him it will look good for him. He's fought at light heavy before and Braehmer failed to stop him twice. He has retired once but maybe Groves will see an opportunity to ko this man to make a statement.
Only problem i ve got with this mate is...you ve got guys like martin murray, paul smith etc. That get chance after chance. And yet groves who,s actually won some half decent fights. Gave froch 2 competetive fights lost a razor tight decision against jack away from home...and hes one fight away from obscurity. To add to that unlike smith and murray hes actually decent to watch and is more skilled that either of them. I dont think groves should be anywhere near obscurity. They d maybe need to re evaluate his level slightly but surely he could come again even if tonights fight ended in defeat. I hate that matchroom fighters can come again but if your not involved in the very good marketing campaign...your one slip up away from being finished. One thing i ll say for groves regardless if its not through choice at least hes out there taking these potential bannana skin fights not just looking for paul smith type oppertunities.
Sorry johnny re read that last post back as i submitted it looks like i m having a go at you. Actually liked your post cause it was a good one mate. Was just adding my two cents to it.
To be fair to Murray, he should have got the nod against Sturm and Sergio. Wouldn't compare him to Smith in that sense at all
Ah. Two fights i ve actually never seen. Slightly unfair on murray then mate. I m a big believer in you can come as long as you still have the ambition and its not getting dangerous. Wasnt really digging murray...was trying to say if he can come again so can groves if he was to take a defeat at this stage. Paul smith stands alone tho...i dont actually think he has the ambition left just interested in taking fights that pay good money without taking anything risky at all. Taking good oppertunities from guys that are actually risking themselves against potential bananna skins
I didn't think you was having a go mate, you made some good points. I agree about certain boxers seem to have an easier ride and are never far away from getting a title shot. As you say he has won big fights like Degale, Murray and as a novice the likes of Smith, a seasoned British level fighter with aspirations of his own and had been in good scraps. That ko was very impressive at the time from Groves and made me a fan despite wanting Smith to win. The Froch fights were very close until the finishes and Jack was very close, I would have said he won but I'm probably biased to the Brit. If it wasn't for the kd I think common concensus is he would have been the world champion that night. With this in mind I think he gets a lot of unfair stick. Like you said he's taking tricky fights and doesn't seem to want to avoid anyone. He was not scared about calling Callum Smith out and being Matchroom (therefore general public) enemy again despite knowing a loss to him would be disastrous for his career. Maybe it's because people don't like his personality which with me I've never had a problem with because he was the lesser of two evils vs Froch and I liked seeing him rattle him which made me root for him even more. Against Degale everyone thought he was the sound down to earth one and wanted him to ktfo Degale. I don't remember too much to dislike in any other fights he's had. I agree it does seem like you're not in the loop if you're not with Matchroom. I've always followed Paul Smith and always wish him well but I can see why everyone gets pissed off at him continuously getting/trying to get shots without earning them.
Do you guys think Groves has a chance of stopping him? just priced up a double of Groves KO/TKO & Kovalev KO/TKO, very decent price!
