no but they lie to themselves based on joe defending against 2 world class guys, one injured, all his life. Toney was facing them every other six months.

Joes record is terrible compared to toneys, yet they imagine its ahead for beating 2 world classers. toneys done this twenty times over.

    Agreed.

Joe's "undefeated record" is nothing compared to Toney's resume.

Went from MW to HW and won titles and STILL never got stopped!

I thought he was 34....Regardless, he won "fighter of the year" that year and was around the same age as when Calzaghe was most critically judged despite being past his best too.

joe has one of the worst records of a major SMW champion ever, barely 3 proper defences. How he ever managed to sanction so many fake defences and against nobodies is a testament to Wassensand cowardzaghes ability to lie and mistreat the welsh public, and the welsh desperately wanting to have something to sing about after years of emptiness.

The Reid fight was a clear robbery.

Yep. Not only that, but why and how did he gain the courage to face America's best when they were way past it?

because them reaching their forties coincided with him magically curing his fear of lying.

    My man!

Joe, even by his and his on fathers words, lacked confidence.

Joe is a weird one. On a H2H level due to his style he is a nightmare, but I could name at least 3 fighters at SMW that I'd choose over him any time of day.

yes being southpaw gave him an extra feather to his cap to make up for his detriment in top level skills.

that and the stamina edge, when used against old fogies and weaklings, meant he wasnt going to lose to serial weaklings.

that said, still a handful. H2H against an elite, he would certainly make them work hard for it all night on the way to beating him. Thats if he'd ever dare get in the ring with a prime uninjured elite or ATG like ward froch benn eubank lillies all did, several times some of them. This is why joe is getting left behind dropping down the SMW rankings as history goes on. AT some point soon he'll be out of the top ten SMWs forever.

I haven't watched it. Maybe I'll get around it. Most don't call it a robbery though.

I disagree that Hopkins won that fight, but that's something we're just going to have to agree to disagree on. But that match doesn't hold much relevance anyway as one of the participants was around 43 while the other was about 37 and neither were fighting at 168 or their natural best class for that matter.

I think it is possible Joe could win by close decision.

Toney is the more gifted guy, but Joe was awkward, had a very solid chin and had a high workrate.

I don't think either guy would land much. Toney would probably land the bigger shots but Joe would land more.

If I had to bet I would go with Calzaghe by split decision.
