Campaigned at the weight for 10 years and has held 3 of the 4 paper straps. How does that compare to Ward at LHW?
Still surprised Ward is edging this poll. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure most polls I've seen have similar numbers, favoring Kovalev instead of Ward.
I'm wondering where the question marks surrounding Kovalev chin came from, because I've never seen him actually more than woken up as a pro. pretty sure I've seen an amateur clip of him going down hard face first but anyone can be put down from the right shot, especially when really young like kov was. I've seen him clipped many times as a pro by full power shots landing clean and every single one he's brushed off like a bug.. so what's with the chin questions , and wouldn't wards have to be questioned too, since he's shown to be more vulnerable as a pro per Boones right uppercut.
Uh, he was an elite light heavyweight for a long time.. If anything he proved himself more at the weight than at 160.
I predicted the outcome of this fight way back in 2009, when I predicted Ward would win the Super Six tournament and eventually retire undefeated. The thing is, Ward only agrees to fights guys he has already studied and concluded he has a stylistic advantage over. Kovalev is a slugger, not very different than Kessler and Froch. Ward can beat anyone apart from the slick movers (whom he ducks), like Andre Dirrell, Lucian Bute, George Groves and James DeGale. Ward wins this by a clear decision or even late stoppage, since Kovalev sucks at inside fighting.
Why are Ward fans blatant liars or just flat out delusional? Ward has not faced a boxer / puncher. KESSLER was the closest but he's not a 3D fighter, he moves in straight lines, stands upright and lacks the ability to adapt. He fights the same way all the time, id say a boxer puncher is the Carl Framptons or Jermaine Taylors of the world. HAYE too. Funny thing is I bet u were slating these men on Wards resume before he fought them and now they are his wins u have to argue for them LOL Froch is as ponder some and hittable as Micky ward.
What about my post makes you think I'm a blatant liar or flat out delusional? Right Kesslers not a boxer puncher? Lol. 3D as is 3 dimensions? Have you watched Kovalev? He backs up in straight lines when pressured, has no inside game, tips off when he's throwing his jab/lead right, and has many other technical errors. Although he has above average footwork, feints well, and has a great offensive repertoire, he is just a good boxer. Why do you think I would be sh1tting on Mikkel Kessler circa 2009? Or Froch circa 2011?
