That's awesome. The guy he's sparring looks like a middleweight. I wonder who he is?

What's cool in that video is how it shows Braddock moving to the right against a right hander. For some reason, most orthodox fighters find it more comfortable to circle to their own left when fighting. Maybe it's because their left jab is their lead punch.

But, as Braddock shows here, if you're orthodox and move to your right, it may feel awkward but it totally takes away your orthodox opponent's power right hand. You're just never in range for your opponent to land his right if you're always going to your right (his left).

If Andre Ward circles to his right (Sergei's left) tonight, he beats Kovalev easy. If Ward circles to his left (into Kovalev's right hand), Kovalev takes him out.

You can see that the boxers of that time especially lighter ones were more scientific and better boxers than some other eras...more counters. Footwork..rolling with punches. Taking punches on left ear and rolling etc. Out smart the opponent and take decision or maybe ko. Thanks

The observations are very accurate. Proper footwork, positioning, stance is the key to avoid punches. Not covering up mid ring hands held high which many mistake as good defensive fighting today.

    Talk to em Perry!!!

I agree, clearly Braddock can box. And can do so with poise and precision.
