Round 3 is Ward's firewall, if he doesn't get it, he doesn't win.

I have absolutely without a shadow of any doubt any problem with this card! It was really close 1 point either way he wins, but from what I see you have them even on rounds with the KD being the spinner!!

No you can't, it was close, but not close enough.

A single flush jab or body shot could have given the round to any particular fighter. I think Ward did slightly better that round.

    So IB has it 114-113.

So maybe we can dispense with the idea that it was some sort of horrific robbery.

I loved his effort but his execution was too sloppy, and the physical toll of Ward's body shots and the lengthy grapples (most of which he could've disengaged from much sooner to work on the outside when he still had a good deal of energy conserved) was clearly getting to him. At one point he did get a couple of nice digs in the body of Ward but most that he tried fell pretty flat. Ward didn't exactly do a ton more in the round, but just enough IMO.

of course you can. Ward had the two of the three best punches of the round. Kovalev's head was knocked back like a pez-dispenser for all the world to see, twice, in that round. Kovalev had a chopping right. After that not much happened.

It's not a robbery at all, let alone horrific. But I think Kovalev has a slightly larger margin to be considered a victor than Ward does. Especially when you add that he's the champion, how does the mantra usually go? You have to TAKE the champion's belts? It seems to apply selectively at times.

Well thanks for the ego boost, guys - helps salve the sting of having slept through it live (DAMN YOU TO HELL, MAURICE HOOKER!!) that my 20-hours-late RBR scoring can still fetch a small but vocal attendance. :sisi1

no, you don't have to take the champion's belt. That's completely bogus. You just have to win.

Partly because the decision is controversial and we're interested to see how you score it since you're generally the more unbiased guy on the forum.
