Kovalev Ward discussion

Didnt score it properly but get the feeling i would have had kovalev up. Looking at it as a whole you d have to go with kovalev but when you start looking at it from a perspective of each individual round how boxings scored couldnt really call robbery either way...some of them rounds were very close. Kind of felt for the judges last night.

Take my hat off to ward tho. Think after watching them first two rounds it became apparent the weight favoured kovalev a good bit. But to his credit he bit down on the gumshield and made it close enough to put up an argument on who won it. Kind of feel kovalev threw the fight away...a little bit more would have been enough to take it. Easier said than done against ward tho.

Not a big fan of virgil hunter...but he done well last night in the corner. More as a motivator but he done what was needed for ward after a difficult first two rounds.

All the (American) judges had round 10 to Ward, which most folk seemed to have given to Kovalev interestingly.

In any case, wrong call but not a robbery by any stretch. Fight itself was OK but too much grappling, really can't stand that.

 

Indeed. Round ten was a clear Kovalev round. The three judges are the only men on earth who gave round ten to ward. No innocent explanation is possible. I suspect foul play.

 

Kovalev was the winner in my eyes

I was pointing fingers of blame there, just saying it was ugly in places. Ugly but by no means particularly dirty. Ref did a good job imo

 

cant really argue with that,if anything id give Ward a round more!

cant make a case for Kovalev winning the fight at all

It was a hard fight to score to be honest.
