    SERGEY KOVALEV WON THE FIRST ROUND and HE WON THE FIGHT !! The fact Vegas judges said otherwise only further proves the corruption rampant there. Make it close to look good but make sure Watd wins

    This is a very good point. It wasn't the worst decision. But for such an important fight... They needed to get he decision right here more than ever.

    No but Kovalev didn't win every round before 6 either. I disagree with the cards but not the result, and the result is what ultimately matters.

    Ward won round 1 just because you land a good shot doesn't mean you win the round when you got out landed. Too many people score fights like that. I remember back when dawson first fought Johnson he rocked dawson in a round but dawson out worked and out landed him people neglected that and scored the round for Johnson. That's what happened in the first round of kovalev ward.

    Trainers do that to motivate their fighters and secure a win. Why on earth would a trainer tell his fighter he's winning when he might not be? Not smart to coast.

    I haven't watched the fight again in its entirety yet, but IIRC that round was tit 4 tat until that shot Landed. So I gotta watch it again.
