from a Brits point of view, Anthony Joshua. you normally have casuals who only watch the big fights/fighters, we have casuals who only watch him and see his record and then see him ko someone and think hes basically another Mike Tyson
Most people I know n work with know Golovkin cause of Geale and Klitschko cause he's been at the top for so long. Without stating the obv maypac
I'm from New York and have been watching boxing for a long, long time. I don't think any modern day fighters outside of FLoyd and maybe Manny Pacquiao are known to the casual fans in my neck of the woods. I can guarantee you if I stood around in Times Square and asked 100 people who Golovkin was, I'd be lucky if 10 of them knew he was a boxer. Same goes with Canelo Alvarez and whoever else is considered PPV worthy/popular fighters. Boxing is not well known to casuals in the states. Sports like football, basketball and baseball trump it by a wide margin in popularity. It sucks what happened to the sport- back in the 80's, several boxers were household names.
If you put McGregor side by side with any current boxing champion he,ppl would recognise him more walking down the street .
Casual fans and hardcore fans recognise the same guys bc they are the most popular ????? I would hope Wlad is still anyway after a 10 year dominant era. smh I also find the ones using the term casuals ,are the ones with less logic on forums. One of which ,"casuals" wouldn't be registered forum members on one frequently . lol
I'd go Anthony Joshua is the biggest "casual" loved fighter period. Judging by what Eddie has said he will very soon be whored around the world to any country who can put up a boxing ring. As far as casuals it is ridiculous some of the stuff you hear about Joshua in the UK, don't get me wrong I like Josh. But all I ever hear from people is how Joshua is "the greatest ever" and how he'd knock anyone out in a couple of rounds...
