Thumbs up on the video Rums! I think this is going to be a good fight, Loma hasn't fought a guy as physically strong and who can crack the way Walters can, and Walters hasn't fought a guy as technically sound in every area as Loma! I agree this fight could produce fireworks and I can't Wait!!

Nice video, Rummy. It's good you highlighted the fact that Walters is adept at all ranges, it's something that doesn't get mentioned enough and is an interesting feature for someone with such long arms.

I definitely can see Walters giving Lomachenko trouble, even a knockdown. I just don't think it'll happen. Damn, this is starting to sound like the Ward-Kovalev predictions.

Walters said he is certainly going for the KO. Walters was asked if he would fight dirty which is what worked for Salido, Walters said an ugly win is better than a pretty loss. Walters can potentially make this a tough night for Lomachenko.

..However, I'm not actually a fan of his footwork and think this is Walters' downfall. To make it worse, his lead foot is stretched too far forward and there's too much weight used to stabilise his back foot. It causes him to fight more static and susceptible to angles that Lomachenko creates. Moreover, when he comes forward to assert pressure, he does so in a very linear manner so I see Lomachenko setting traps here and timing Walters on some decent counters. Walters is hard work for people who stand in front of him, this competitive advantage will be nullified by a fundamental element in Lomachenko's game.

Quite importantly, Lomachenko is vulnerable to right hands to the body, he hasn't rectified this problem since turning pro. Walters dropped Donaire with this. He also has to be very careful when turning away from Walters, from the ropes. Walters can land a damaging hook. I can imagine Walters will try and force a fight on the inside, he's a lot better there. He's not as good on the outside and Loma will pick him off there.

Edit: My prediction remains as a TKO 10. Potentially earlier.

Good video Rummy, I got Loma by KO around the 7th, I don't think this match will be particularly competitive, Loma dominates after taking a round or two to figure out his timing, and find the proper range and the rest will be elementary.

Its not that Walters power didn't carry up to SFW, its just that he made his name being a massive SFW who drained down to FW and feasted on tiny little Bantamweights who had no business as far north as Feather. He was the Julio Jr. of FW. Vic has always had chin problems and after moving up to FW and back down to SBW, he's basically turned into Juanma, he's getting chinned left and right, and Donaire hadn't been looking all that spiffy before making the move, he looked like hell against Rigo, Mathebula and Vazquez Jr. So IMO the less than stellar Walters we're getting now, is the real Nicholas Walters, granted I knew who Marriaga and Sosa were before he fought them and knew they were far better than people thought they were, but still lackluster performances in both of those fights, he isn't an elite talent IMO and never has been, he has decent footwork, angles, ring IQ, but he's going to be stripped bare Saturday by Loma, with ease. Donaire rocked him, Marriaga rocked him, with Loma's accuracy, hooks, angles and uppercuts that you mentioned, he'll be ripped to pieces, because unlike his inflated power being exposed for what it is, Loma seems to be in his proper division, and his power has improved greatly.

Wow. You're basically not giving Walters much of a chance. I can't and will not underestimate Walters. He's a live dog.

I do know there is early controversy with the judges who are being assigned to the fight. I guess they're objecting to Adelaide Byrd being one of the judges. Full article is at the scene.

Everyone seems to be confident in their pick but I'm perplexed in this fight. Yes Lona is the more skilled man. He has better footwork, Ring IQ, headmovement. A lot of advantages. That said I really think people are selling Walters short. He has very solid skills and ring IQ himself. His biggest problem is he likes to bang like in the Sosa fight when he doesn't need too. He could win this fight if he were to employ range control and catch Loma trying to close range but as stated, dude likes to bang which is why I think Loma wins in a close fight. Judges will favor Loma as well as the horrible HBO commentary. Walters basically needs a KO to win which is a scenario I never lean on.
