This is pure trolling. Dempsey rarely threw combos and anyone who has seen 5 minutes of footage on him can tell that. Dempsey threw every punch with intentions to knock the other guys out. Combinations are a mixture of punches to set guys up with less than maximum power. The opposite of Dempsey's goals.
Claims the guy who said Max Baer was 240 lbs when he fought Joe Louis and that Max Baer also knocked Joe Louis out of the ring. Do you even watch the fights you talk about?
He was still a world class trainer after he got attacked, so I wouldn't use that to question his judgement. Also, this was referring to a point about Tyson being night and day more skilled than Dempsey, not the main topic at hand.
He used good feints to get in and worked head to body combos rather effectively against his opposition ,you clearly don't know what you are talking about.
Valuev won decisions he should have lost. See the Donald fight. And he should have lost to a very old Holyfield. Too slow and not a hard enough hitter he was. Haye wasn't small He's 6'3" tall, with a 78" reach. Same height as Ali and nearly the same reach. And he can hit, but outside of Valuev, which he won in a close fight, did he beat another top ten man at heavyweight?
I didn't even disagree with that. In fact I specifically highlighted "good combos". You are trolling yet again and are choosing purposely to argue a point which I didn't disagree with. Again, ydksab.
Youre so stupid that was Buddy Baer who did that and did weigh as much as 250 ,maybe you should go brush up your boxing IQ?
Tyson at his best was more technical, but more skilled is debatable. My point is Arcel never saw the emergence of skilled Super Heavyweights, which has dominated heavyweight boxing since 1990. And if he did he was likely too old to comment. 26 years have passed since 1990, this is not a fad. Prior to 1990, Dempsey wasn't that small. He'd be 200- 205 today, maybe giving up about 10-15 pounds to Tyson.
You specifically said Max Baer. So as it turns out YOU are the one who needs to brush up on your boxing IQ. How many boxrec tabs do you have open right now?
Right. But isn't that the whole point? Valuev is over 10 weight classes above Haye. TEN! Following prevailing wisdom, as long as he has basic training, and can throw a 1-2, he should get Haye out of there instantly, right? Another example is Byrd vs. Vitali. We can't call Vitali absent of skill can we? If so, who is left, just his brother? There are just too many examples to call each one an outlier. I think we have similar opinions on the matter. I'm just questioning the logic you used to articulate your point. I'm simply pointing out that a CW can be a major figure in the HW scene in modern boxing that's filled with big guys.
Wtf do you mean "No"?! I specifically ****ing highlighted the part I disagreed with and even worse for you I only talked about combination punching in my reply to that idiotic post. I can't believe people actually think like you.
the introduction of so called "Skilled superheavyweights" has more to do with modern body building advances than anything else. It's amazing how good a fighter looks when the tempo suits him. Artificial weight suits the giants. It slows down the smaller ones and makes the bigger ones more relevent. Fewer champions make the US army weight to height requirements compared to the last time heavyweight boxing was remotely good to watch. Historically Giants training like boxer's just did not suit their bodies. They obviously needed to be heavier but until the advances in creating functional weight came in they just got slower. It's only the big guys who can carry the artificial weight they all want to carry now.
