Both fight for Top Rank, and Bob is very high on Loma, Walters not so much, its seems like he's been trying to unload him for a while, so I doubt the fix is in on tis one. If Walters were American, I might have been concerned.

Walters is an overhyped bum. Darchinyan and Donaire were undersized and washed up when he fought them. His last two fights he's looked ordinary, like he doesn't even have power when he's fighting men his own size. I'm already fantasizing about a Lomachenko/Linares match up: two superbly technical fighters squaring off. With Linares being the bigger man, his eggshell chin should be somewhat protected, and his feather fist punches might actually count for something.

Starting to lean towards Walters as the fight approaches. I think a lot of people and even lomachenko is over looking him. This same scenario happened against Salido. We shall see what happens Saturday night. I see a counter right hand coming for Loma.

Looking forward to this fight. UD for Lomo. He ain't knocking Walters out. That's for sure. However, he will outbox the hell out of Walters. It won't be a blow out. I'll give Walters 4 or 5 rounds in the fight.

I tend to agree, but I think your description of Walters as simply a "puncher" is unfair, and not reflective of what he's truly capable of. He's a pretty smart fighter, and he does a lot of things well. I believe Lomachenko will probably win, and even if he does so without being tested the way I think he will be - he will deserve credit for the win in my eyes. Walters is no pushover.

And again, building off what I said in my previous reply to FuMaster - I think this type of thinking really sells Walters short. And by extension, I think it does a great disservice to Lomachenko in the event he wins and looks awesome doing it.

You're right. Just getting in the mood for the fight. Loma is probably my fave fighter right now. Just being a fan boy is all :)

Very good post! I think Walters' footwork is pretty good myself. You might be right, and that maybe Lomachenko will have a time of catching him with awkward angles in the event his feet leave him undesirably in harm's way. I can definitely see something like that happening. But Walters is pretty athletic and resourceful. I still believe, on the whole, any success Lomachenko has (even if at times he makes it look easy) will be "earned", if you know what I mean.

    Can't wait for the fight.

I think a lot of people are overlooking Walters a bit, too. But I guess we'll know soon enough.

I think we have a tendency to over hype the opponents of big stars in the sport. Everyone becomes a "killer" and every fight is "huge." The bigger the star the more ridiculous the hype becomes. Remember when Ring put Robert Guerrero in their p4p list when he was set to fight Floyd Mayweather? Or how Maidana or Ortiz supposedly had a shot? Walters does some things well but he is not elite. I think he's already gone as far as he's ever going to in this sport. We might hear about him again in two or three years when the next big thing at super featherweight tees him up to pad a record but that's about it. Frankly, this feels a little like when CST was going around telling everyone that Charles Martin was about to stomp all over Anthony Joshua, or David Lemieux would make short work of Golovkin.

Walters is a much more dangerous proposition for Loma than fat old man Salido, and we all saw what happened there. I think he breaks Loma down with bodyshots and stops him late, either that or Loma close on points. Whatever happens Walters aint getting stopped.
