It is clear that most of the Ward apologists don't care about boxing. They are happy for boxing to be destroyed for the sake of their short-term gratification, which I will account for as the human condition - like dismissers of climate change. You believe what suits you now with disregard for the bigger picture. Eventually the truth will be revealed but only when it is too late. Boxing will be a sport referred to in the past tense. None of the fighters wanted to fight each other because they were scared of losing, getting robbed or not receiving their fair share of the money. The sport splintered into different bodies each run by opportunistic promoters. There were weight divisions created at every 2 pound increment. The biggest PPV fighters stopped taking the risk of fighting anyone with a chance of beating them. The PPV fans, many of whom knew little about the sweet science, loved flashy, athletic and promotable boxers. The original interpretation of boxing was gone - it became about the trash talk and the flash lifestyles. The rules were ignored to suit the flashy-style boxing. This created a new style of "boxer". It was also better to make a guaranteed 35% of a big purse than risk losing the PPV status and unbeaten status. Even then, promoters ensured the fight outcomes with specially picked referees and judges. Eventually there were so many champions, divisions and boring fights with known outcomes that the UFC took over.

When presented with the truth there is a cognitive dissonance that is firmly entrenched in their minds.
