Froch comes into fight at what, 175lbs and Kovalev 185-190lbs? Tell me, what does Froch possess that could possibly trouble Kovalev? Size? Power? Strength? Boxing skills? Chin? Perhaps but Kovalev is another league in power. Stamina? Maybe. Froch is over matched in this.
Kovalev early to mid or Froch late, don't see it going the distance. The most likely outcome to my mind is TKO for Kovalev mid rounds, however if froch makes it to the later stages and the fight's been at a pace, it's not beyond the realms of possibility he stops a gassing Kovalev.
I like froch in this one, would be interesting to see them throwing bombs until one dropped. froch's jab was really good at one point but then he started using it less which i think was silly and just relied on his chin and power shots.
As good as Froch's chin was I don't think he'd be able to stand up to Kovalev, who's arguably a bigger guy than Froch too. Froch was too hittable and a bit slow and kovalev will connect some nasty straight rights flush many times. I could see a tko stoppage on the ropes or something. I really rate Froch btw.
Kovalev would literally beat the **** out of Froch, assuming of course he felt like training before the fight, which he apparently has not been big on these last two times out.
I love Carl but Kovalev is a level above. Pascal, Ward and Hopkins fights prove this.. A lot of Carls fight were come from behind wins. Great heart, endurance and gas tank and will to win but peak Kessler would beat him 2 times out of 3 IMO Let alone Kovalev.. Though I do think he could go through hell to get a late stoppage over pimp Stevenson. Fonfara nearly did ffs...
