Fight on Saturday. Surely this is the riskiest piece of match-making we've seen from Matchroom. Admittedly I've never seen Hall box but one glance at his record and it's apparent that this is a massive step up. Read an interview from Jones and he said that he and Abel Sanchez watched a bit of footage and have this down as an easy night's work. Abel saying that if Jones doesn't win he should pack it in.

Does anyone give Hall a chance here? Anyone know the odds on a Jones stoppage, couldn't find the market on Coral?

Yeah, I haven't seen Hall either so it's silly of me to judge but I do agree - looking at the level he's been at, this is a big step up and I back Jones to win on that basis.

Hearn loves Carson Jones doesn't he. I bet those two and Rebrasse go to the cinema all the time

Going off hearns ifl interview yesterday, he's challenging his fighters to either step up and take hard fights or look elsewhere (e.g FW & BT) I think there are a few Matchroom fighters which he may push out of his stable, I'm thinking along the lines of:

    Brian Rose
    Frankie Gavin
    John Ryder
    Paul Smith
    Scott Cardle
    Tommy Coyle
    Rocky Fielding

    Yes I saw that interview.

For anyone who didn't, Eddie basically said that he only wants fighters in his stable who have world title potential and world title ambition, and also said that he is no longer going to allow his fighters to take on easy "tick-over" opponents who are 50/1 to win.

And he said that he's happy for Frank W and BT to take fighters who don't cut the grade off his hands.

Having said that, there's a big difference between avoiding easy match-making and putting a ten-fight novice in against an experienced pro who went life and death with Kell Brook.

I think Sky have had a word over the past couple of months about match making, I think what we will see is fighters released from Matchroom but still involved on their cards occasionally.

Hearn was quite complimentary about Frank in that interview (apart from a few barbs) plus also praising Channel 5 and hinting at a return by ITV to the sport (with Hennessy I'd presume).

As for this fight, it's a big ask for Hall at this stage.

I'd agree with Eddie that fighters at a certain level need to be taking proper fights, on paper though this one looks very much in at the deep end

I agree about not having mis matches but Rose, Coyle and Fielding seem to me they'll fight anyone. Not many terrible opponents I can remember them having over the last couple of years compared to others.

I expect as with all of Brooks previous world class opponents, that this novice Hall will outclass Jones.

It seems like a mismatch on paper andd Jones should win easily but maybe Brooks resume is overrated?

well Ben Hall is the favourite with the bookies for a reason!

maybe if you watched him you'd realise he has talent, I expect him to beat Jones, might be close though.

Jones is pretty good odds online imo

Walters is 5 or 6/1 depending on where you go also...

15/8 is absolutely mental odds for Jones. What are the bookies seeing here? I get the feeling that if Jones doesn't score the KO, Hall will be given a draw or win on the cards. I reckon I'm going to couple Jones with O'Hara at 3/10. Stalker is 4/6 which is tempting too.

Well worth a go. Walters is 5/1 for the upset as well if you're feeling particularly daring

I saw the Walters odds and nearly jumped all over them, I controlled myself, calmed down and haven't yet but I might.

I think Walters is being seriously overlooked but it's Loma and so I understand why, Loma is ridiculously good but Walters does and will have a very good punchers chance.

Walter is good, he's real good. But I really rate Loma and think he does a job here. But at them odds, it's worth a tenner
