Haye/Bellew PPV - Is this the final straw..

Strange that it's PPV but I guess there's a market for it.

 

He said Joshua HAS to be on PPV regardless of who he fights. What has Joshua ever done to be PPV worthy?

He is a salesman and that is it.

Achieved a ridiculous amount of PPV buys.

Joshua is a box office star who fills big arenas and has hundreds of thousands prepared to pay to watch him on TV.

His boxing cv doesn't determine whether his a PPV fighter or not. His popularity and the revenue he generates does that.

The fury v Vlad rematch was a great example of a so called ppv fight which sold no tickets and would of bombed on ppv.

 

It's just a case of Joshua's contract likely stating he has to be on PPV. He's a draw clearly and Hearn will want to keep him happy anyway possible.

I agree that Joshua has fought no-one above Euro level yet and really should be still on regular Sky Sports. However Joshua is so far ahead of everyone else marketing wise that we are where we are.

The Haye deal is a one fight thing so he might pop up on BT/Boxnation yet.

 

I think it's nailed on now that Joe Joyce will end up being the "star" of BT/Boxnation's new events. Frank W will probably pay him a **** ton.

No one doubts that (Haye earnt £3m for Harrison fight) The point is if casual fans will feel duped at the fact it's being marketed as competitive- which is absurd - and will get pissed off with being duped into paying for it. Casuals will not enjoy a 12 round war of attrition between Chisora v Whyte (another verbal diahoria snooze fest) The theory is it damages the sport. And poss sends casuals to UFC. And then no one invests in sport then you get WORLD TITLE fights like Froch v Abraham not aired at all in U.K.!!! All these promoters say they need the sport to be healthy to thrive but it's just PR. It about bottom line quarter to quarter profits. And Q1 is Haye.

Bellew lost against Stevenson because as a more suited 200lber he came down to fight him.. if both are good the bigger usually wins..

So Haye/Bellew is more of a hybrid at their own weights.. Bellew something like 210lbs and Haye around 220lbs..

Each pound makes a difference.. Khan would have whooped at welter..

How do you differentiate what is a "casual" fan and whatever you lot on here class yourselves as? I like watching the boxing, like to say I know whose who etc but I've never been inside a ring so don't really know the technicalities of the sport. So what am I?

 

It's not about whether you've boxed. If you make an effort to watch every televised card you can possibly watch, stay up to date with news and have decent knowledge on fighters around the world then you are not a casual fan at all.

Casual fans for instance would have no idea who Lomachenko is.

ide class myself as more than a casual then but not hard-core. I think Walters quit far to easily. Hopefully Lomachenko will move up now and fight flanagan
