Right height, and right time. Should be a good fight and they are both southpaws. I'm not counting Pac out.l
The size difference between Lomachenko and Crawford is silly. Look at the names we're saying will challenge Loma - Crawford, Mikey, Pacquiao. Crawford is a Light Welterweight who SHOULD be a welterweight, Mikey is a big LW, Pac is currently a welterweight. Remember: Celestino Caballero = 5'11 122-126lbs - 73.5 inch reach Kovalev = 6'0 and a 72.5 inch reach. Overall, same length as eachother. That doesn't make him a LHW.
SMH Crawford was 157 in the ring against Postol while Lomachenko was 137 last night. Expect nothing less from 'the demographic' lol
Mikey's not the kind of puncher who needs to wear guys down, so I don't know how we can predict merely a late stoppage. He's not a Loma or Ward who needs a few rounds to find his range. His great quality like you said is seeing openings and landing perfectly timed, accurate counter punch bombs. So I think if Mikey knocks out Zlaticanin it can happen at ANY time, from the 1st to 12th.
That's a huge size 'exception'. Crawford's frame and shoulders is what holds up 20 lbs more in natural weight. And that means he'd have a significant advantage in strength, punching power, and the ability to take a punch. Loma's a small guy who just moved up to 130 and was only 136 fight night. Crawford's the same size as Pac, and there's no reason for Loma to fight a bigger guy in either right now. And for Crawford who's moving onto bigger fights Pac or Haymon guys like Garcia or Thurman make way more sense. Fighting Loma would be a lose/lose fight for him. For Loma, 130 and 135 are really heating up and there's a lot of worthwhile fights there for now.
I hate it when guys do this, say a super talent like Loma should now step up and fight guys that are a lot bigger. Doesn't make any sense. Let him completely dominate those within 5 pounds of him and then think about moving up against bigger guys. Crawford is a lot bigger than Loma. Loma is much more skilled than Crawford but Crawford offsets Loma's skills with his power. If they were the same weight Loma would dominate Crawford.
lol, who started this dumb thread?? They are two weight classes apart and crawford outweighs loma by 20lbs on fight night. Fight somebody your own size.
To add to your point Walters actually has a longer reach than Crawford 73/70. I dont think the fight happens. I see Bud moving to ww and loma is only at 130lbs right now and in no rush to move up. A catchweight fight at 135 would be a big disadvantage for Crawford who`d have to starve himself down.
I'd love to see that fight if Loma can put on quality weight, but that's a heck of a hurdle to climb. Look at the size difference between Gamboa and Bud in that fight (and that played a huge factor in it), and remind yourself that Loma's about that same size
Let Crawford step up and fight Spence, for all you Crawford fans out there. Too big? Well, that is what you are asking Loma to do.
He just beat Walters and has beaten GRJ who was once slated as P4P. The dude has done a lot in a limited time and he has done it in style. His footwork is unbelievable. I have never seen anything like it. In fact he has done more in his pro boxing career than guys with 30 fights. Look at the undercard yesterday. There was a guy 23-0 with 18 KOs fighting a tomato can. Why isn't he stepping up? He was throwing big wide haymakers and would have been counter punched by anyone decent. Enough hate on Loma. Enjoy the ride.
