Not even a close fight. You see how people thought Walters had a shot? That's because the underestimated how dominant Loma is. For mayweather, Loma would just be a stylistic nightmare. You have this guy constantly changing angles, insane speed, and amazing defensive ability. Mayweather had a hard time connecting with good defensive fighters, imagine Lomachenko. It would be a shutout, 12-0. Style nightmare for Mayweather, he is glad he never had a Lomachenko around @ 130.
Our opinions are very very different . Loma truthfully didn't prove to be as much physically superior to walters as mental. This was 90% mental and fmj is one of the all time mentally strong fighters. Walters had far more opportunities than you think, there was many openings every round and the seldom times walters half heartedly let his hands go he landed plenty, he just hardly threw . I've seen all of Loma's pro fights and all of fmj pro fights, physically fmj is the more dominant fighter with much more in his arsenal , Loma is pretty darn good but I can't label him as great, he's 28 years old, he's already at his physical peak. Are you thinking hypothetically if this 28 year old Loma fought the 19 to 21 year old fmj ? I'd kind of understand your position and respect it as such but Loma already was beaten by a fighter that never has proven he could compete with any elite fighter
Would have been a great fight. awfully techy though. I wonder what 130 Floyd's mentality in taking on such an opponent would have been?
I'm picking Lomachenko wide UD. There has been threads on this. The overall sentiment is that Lomachenko needs a few more fights and consistently perform on this standard because what Mayweather achieved at 130 was outstanding and he's arguably the greatest 130lber of all time - whereas Lomachenko only has one elite name on his 130 legacy. Mayweather's biggest fans will always say Mayweather is better, regardless of how big Loma fans they are. But yeah, Lomachenko likes fighting against defensive fighters. Lomachenko is also everything Pacquiao wishes he was. I don't think Mayweather would've agreed to fight Lomachenko.
I don't think Pacquiao wishes he was anything... one of the best and most exciting fighters of the 21st century. Getting out of Poverty was his ultimate goal and success. Beat fighters of a calibre that won't be around for Lomanchenko to try and beat. Each have distinct differences and career paths. Nothing to compare really apart from understanding that they are top tier boxers that must be appriected of their own accord.
Pacquiao has the greatest success story in boxing history IMO and is the greatest (not best) fighter since Ray Leonard and Duran.
Look back in a three years and ten fights or so from now, and then draw a conclusion. But assessing a boxer after eight fights and placing him above a winning-machine like Mayweather is either a result of not understanding professional boxing and the challenge of longevity or simply down to trying to be provocative. Both reasons are valid, as might be placing Loma above Floyd when looking back on both careers. But let Loma have a career first. Just enjoy what he will provide over the coming years without attaching to him that desperate desire to find a fighter (by your own measure amusingly) who ranks above the man you love to hate.
The same Lomachenko that couldn't beat Salido would get schooled by Floyd. Walters has no jab. I can see Floyd using his reach and jab to outbox Loma.
how would floyd be able to outbox the better skilled fighter? Loma only lost once in nearly 400 amateur fights(you have to be extremely skilled to have a record like that) 2 time gold champion and 2 time world champion and his start to his pro career is better then anything mayweather did in 18 fights.
The performance against Walters > Any Floyd performance, ever. Floyd did put on a masterclass against Corrales, but Loma's performance was just different level kinda stuff. The thing is, is south of 140, Floyd would come forward and bang - bad move against Loma. Loma 7-5/8-4, IMHO. And I'm being very generous with the former, btw.
