Why does UFC still get over a 1 mil ppv buys?

I think you and Tsar nailed it.

Fans would have an easier time funding these fights if they weren't getting taken to the cleaners on them. Promoters had no problem up-charging for May-Pac- and I get that logic- but they can't expect $70 to gain a lot of traction as the new normal for boxing PPV's. Few people that aren't already hardcore fans are going to buy in at that price point, and the hardcores will only take so much of it.

It's not as simple as that. Not like GGG the KO king is the ppv draw in the states.

It's all about fighting as well as persona.

Why did Floyd become the #1 drawing fighter in all of combat sports? His persona and ability to appeal to the fans and the haters made him a huge draw.

The cards aren't stacked enough anymore. One big fight isn't enough. Either stack the cards or charge 20 bucks like we do in the UK.
$70 is outrageous. No way i'd ever pay that to watch a fight.

To put that $5 mil guarantee in perspective: GGG, Lemieux, Roman, and Viloria fought on that PPV card for under $4 mil guaranteed combined. This cost a lot more to stage and needed a higher breakeven #.

Because they're stacking their cards with Good fights, and doing so with their cash cows headlining in the Main Event. McGregor is at the level Of Floyd and Pac in their heyday raking in 1 million buys per fight, and that's MMA.When Rousey comes back that **** will do over 1 million buys as well.

That's not how PPV works. A sport does not sell ppvs, a name does. If McGregor did a boxing fight he would do the same PPV buys.

We just have to wait for the next name to come along, and it's most likely going to be Joshua - maybe canelo if he beats GGG

Imagine the high the numbers Golovkin would've drew against a name opponent like Kovalev.

And imagine how **** poor Ward would've been with a no name like Lemieux.

Ward vs Golovkin would have sold a lot better.. HBO protected the Triple Ham . They should have made Krusher vs Stevenson and Ward vs Golovkin.
They got greedy and now it hit them where it hurts.

If it is 150K that's reported, can we change the number like Golovkin haters did for his PPV number?

80% of the people that bought tickets to that fight were ward fans

Last time kov fought in vagas it was 500 people in the crowd same in atlantic city

Kov couldnt even sale tickets in russia

Ward has been in a major movie, major commercials, major talk shows & was the last male boxer to when a gold medal so yes most those buys is because of his name

That's what I said. Ppv isn't dying it's just America doesn't have a PPV box office star right now.

Give me facts that back up your claim, Ward cannot even sell out his own hometown without giving away free tickets. He couldnt draw flies. Kovalev is the popular fighter with a more appealing style for the masses.

He has to knock Ward out to win the fight and even then he could get disqualified. No one is going to beat Andre Ward if three judges are American.
