I trained at Fraziers and wat i saw was a nice man with the eyes and the temperment of a killer if u tried taking liberties
Carson was always such a class act with guests, never any cheap shots or condescending behavior ... thanks for the clip!
Hahaha, sounds like my old wrestling coach. Calmest man I ever met but grappling with him was like trying to bring down a terminator robot.
Not alot. He was really cool and easy to talk too but he also carried himself im a manner that screamed dont **** with me. Not cocky or anything just a dangerous man. The only other fighter i met that gave that vibe was Kovalev. I will say this though. I saw Joe about to leave the gym and he stopped this Tyson type HW to fix his hook. Now there was one bag at the gym that weighed 250 lb. Frazier stepped into this bag cold wearing a suite an tie and with one hook bent the bag in half and raised it about 4 feet out to the side. I was 26 then im 51 now and remember that moment like it was yesterday. Joe.. Marvis and Val Colbert were class acts as was Tyrone Frazier.
Yeah, I echo Nighttrain pretty much robert,...you're one of the very best posters here man,...I'd love to hear more.
Joe Frazier gets devalued so much these days,...like he didn't have a chin at all, was one handed,..etc., and etc....ad finitum...and I say he was never the same after the FOTC,...and that version of him beats the best of Ali, any time, IMO. Joe Frazier was a real badass....like Jack Dempsey was.....but hell, that's a story for another time.
Word! His chin was as good as anyone's ever. No one else gets lifted off his feet and continues. He doesn't land the left as often and like he did if didn't have a good right. The slow starter thing is so overstated I suspect I am listening to a Howard Cosell wannabe . No one should want to sound like Howard Cosell. Those who actually faced him often mention how hard he was to hit with a solid blow. Those closest to him tried to convince him to retire before Kingston but invariably someone will raise something post to illustrate and thereby diminish his peak .
