I got a bad feeling about this one, my head tells me Lebedev comfortably outboxes Gassiev, but my gut is telling me Gassiev catches him with something big and puts him down, God I hope I'm wrong.

Lebedev could very much catch him with a mega left, but Lebedev will come foward as usual and that's when Gassiev will rock his world. Gassiev will stop Lebedev late in a War.

Gassiev gassing should be obvious, hence his name GASsiev.

Both guys can end the fight with one shot but your analysis seems off. Lebedev doesn't march forward consistently he circles and uses lots of lateral movement now-a-days. Even if that was true Gassiev is more of the stalker and prototypical puncher who is more effective coming forward so getting pushed back could make him less dangerous. Gassiev is capable of throwing nice combos but rarely does he seems to wait for the perfect shot and may struggle if Denis keeps turning him all night.

Yeah you're probably right. He does seemed to have taken a more calculated approach in his recent fights. But I still think of him as that seek and destroy kind of guy he looked to me a few years ago. The guy can box, but he likes to fight too, and in this fight he may try to come foward a little more and if he does, Gassiev will knock him out.

If Tony Bellew moves up to Heavyweight then this could indeed decide the number 1 Cruiserweight in the world.

    No I didn't.

The winner of Lebedev-Gassiev will clearly be above Uysk and the no.1 in the division (if Bellew moves up for good).

Yep. Lebedev is the clear #1 CW until he loses or Usyk definitively prove otherwise. Passing the eye test and having one great win is one thing... But that alone doesn't override Lebedevs years of success and consistency.

I have Lebedev as the no. 1 in the division, but imo Usyk looks better and is the #2.

His win over Glowacki, who beat Huck and Cunningham, is better than Bellew's over Makabu so I don't see how Bellew is relevant while Usyk isn't.

Agreed, but I can't see how Bellew is in contention for #1 while Usyk isn't.

There's always the chance Lebedev gets old over night too... Should still have way too much for Gassiev, but as you said it's hard to count out a puncher that big. But as Kudryashov proved that alone is not enough.

Listen pal, if Floyd says he's TBE, he's TBE. If Ali says he's the Greatest, he's The Greatest. So if Bellew says he's the best Cruiserweight in the world, he's the best Cruiserweight in the world.

    Capishe?
