Is Walters a coward?

You tap out before you lose consciousness or suffer a major injury like a broken arm or torn tendon. You don't tap out when someone pulls guard.

 

That's what I'm thinking they don't tap coz they want to, they tap out coz they have to.

 

I just watched the end of Pac Morales 2 and the whole of 3. Morales didn't quit either time. He got knocked down a couple of times and then the refs waved it off before he could get up. Walters wasn't knocked down and the ref didn't save him. He walked unharmed to his stool and decided he'd had enough.

 

He should keep using his head and stay out of the ring then. What a philosopher king.

'I can't call him a coward because he is courageous enough to get in the ring' is an awful argument.
He was put into fighting at a young age and didn't even bother trying to get a career in anything else. If you're bought up to box, the boxing ring would be your home. Walters has a certain threshold for pain etc. because he's been trained for it. So when you're copping out when you've been trained to be much, much better, then yes, you're being a coward.

But although he's a coward in boxing terms, it is ultimately a mindless, dumb business of hitting eachother till the other one is too badly hurt - so health does come into it. The problem is, Walters wasn't even trying hard enough - he was fighting 'safe' and didn't even try to go for the knockout i.e plan B. He barely got hurt and he ran away.

 

I don't get it. He got hit hard vs Donaire and got up. Seems like he was embarrassed but it really wasn't so bad, we've all seen worse schoolings.

 

he should be embarrassed he didn't even throw anything. He looked like them journeymen who just come for a check and don't try to beat the count the moment the favourite starts catching them with clean shots.

 

I won't call him a coward but that was a cowardly act.

 

I didn't like it neither but BoxNation did notice something off with him going into the fight. I don't respect Walters skillset much as I was one of the few (other than obvious trolls) on this board saying it would be an easy win for Loma. But, I do give Walters enough respect not to call him a coward. Maybe he wasn't mentally in that fight like Olliver McCall. It was just a strange ending.

 

Fair enough I think hes gunna regret his decision for a long time and he's really got rebuild himself to win back whatever fans he can. I respected his skill set and thought he would give Lomachenko his toughest fight but he let me and his paying fans down with that performance. Good call on your part.

 

Something was wrong with him period.....he wasn't taking a beating, out boxed sure, but not a beating. With that long a lay off and then the quitting you have to wonder does he really want to box? Is there a love for the sport like many have? It just seemed like the regular avg joe going to work at a place he didn't want to be but he needed the money.

 

Not a coward but a disgrace to his country Jamaica.

 

It surprised me he crushed Donaire. Lomachenko's sublime skill took his soul. No way did I see this happening.

 

At least Walters got in there and gave it a shot. His corner knew he was totally outmatched & wisely pulled him out to prevent possible serious injury or even worse. I rate Walters higher than cowards like Pollo Canelo etc who talk macho till they are called on it. Then they slither away tail tucked between their legs They are the COWARDS!!
