No. Trust your eyes. Ruiz beats no one in any orgs top 10. Pick an org. Ruiz loses to everyone in that org's top 10. He is not good.
Genuinely interested in thoughts - people saying Ruiz isn't good, or has no potential... does anyone have any theory why Abel Sanchez would invest time in him or why Bob Arum would promote/work with him if they didn't think he was worth some investment?
Ruiz is a mental midget and total headcase. We also know nothing about his Chin (other than he seems to have about 4 of them)
As overrated as Parker is I don't see him getting beat by Ruiz. Ruiz has good hand speed, but other than that I think he's outmatched at the elite level.
Because Bob Arum caters to the Mexican market in the U.S. There were no Mexican heavyweights of any note at all. If there ever is a great Mexican heavyweight, his star power will make Canelo look like a red-headed stepchild. But Ruiz isn't that guy. There have been a lot of starts and stops with him. He's never in good shape. He's not really a hard puncher. He's not a great boxer. He's easy to hit. They matched him with poor fighters and he struggled with many. They matched him with a name heavyweight in Liakhovich after people thought Sergei should have his license revoked when he was left on the floor convulsing against Wilder ... and Liakhovich appeared to outbox Ruiz. Ruiz just isn't good. He has one of the best promoters in boxing. They've invested in him. They've matched him with kid gloves. They've given him every opportunity to impress, and he just doesn't. The names he's supposed to destroy appear to beat him. The "bums" he's supposed to walk over go the distance or quit in a corner. They maneuvered him in a way so now he gets to fight for a vacant title. Maybe Parker will break something in his leg moving around the ring, like Glazkov did against Martin. Freak injury aside, Parker's going to destroy Ruiz. And when Ruiz has to face guys rated by the other orgs, he's going to lose all those, too. Because he isn't good. I wouldn't even classify him as on the level of someone like a Jesse Ferguson, because I think if Ferguson was 20 years younger he'd kick Ruiz's @ss, too. Ruiz is like a Samson Po'uha, except Po'uha hit harder. Hell, I'd take Pouha over Ruiz. If there were no belts on the line, it would be Ruiz facing his first ranked opponent. And that ranked opponent is going to pound him and stop him early. And that would be the end of Ruiz. Since we're in the age now where it's a vacant title fight, Ruiz might be around for a fight or two after this, but he won't beat anyone ranked then, either. He isn't good enough. Even against the fall guys, he doesn't look good enough.
So, just to be clear, you admit an orgs ratings aren't reliable here when it goes against the consensus of the boxing community, but for Wilder the orgs are right and the consensus is wrong.
Ruiz looks like he is in the best shape of his life. So that is unlikely to be the reason for his demise. Ruiz is capable of beating Parker if Parker fights the wrong fight and makes mistakes. But provided Parker uses his head and fights the right fight he should get the job done.
Parker is a beast man. Ruiz is going to have to fight a perfect fight to beat Parker. He needs to utilize the ring, land quick sharp combinations and keep Parker thinking of what's coming next. Hes got to box smart and avoid as many of Parkers big shots as he can because that will work to his benefit later on in the fight. If he decides to stand his ground toe 2 toe, Parker is going to knock his block off.
Alot of people don't think highly of Ruiz, probably because of his weight but the dude can fight and believe it or not, I think Ruiz is going to be his toughest fight to date.
Ruiz as the smaller man, can't afford to fight toe2toe, that will be disastrous. I'm looking foward to the fight.
Ruiz will be coming at Parker from the first bell in an attempt to go to work on the inside. Parker will use his jab to create space and try and wear Ruiz down.
