Promoters need to be careful with using scripted press conferences, face offs and supposed hatred between the two fighters to sell a fight. If they keep using those tactics over and over eventually it will lose any meaning or impact and become ineffective in reeling in the clueless and deluded fans to pay for these farces.

I think they don't like eachother much mate, I didn't see much pretending.

If you're complaining about this fight you are not a sports fan and hate boxing. There.

Yeah, I can definitely see how they wouldn't like each other.
Most people here seem to dislike one or the other ..... and usually both.

Yeah well said. Both fighters have a British following, and Id pay 15 quid to see either of them knocked the **** out. It isnt always about skills or rankings. Nothing wrong in tuning in to see a decent tear up between two mouthy clowns.

I genuinely think that Bellew doesn't like Haye but Haye just sees Bellew as an easy pay day (whether that is the case is yet to be seen).

This fight reeks of a fight solely made to fill Sky's PPV quota- I mean who else can Hearn put on PPV legitimately and get buys apart from Joshua?

Brook/GGG done better numbers than Joshua/Whyte according to Hearn. I think Brook would do very good numbers vs Khan/Garcia/Thurman as well.

    PPV IS BRILLIANT AND AWFUL.
I was raised watching boxing through the sixties seventies eighties and so on which Is why I followed the sport because I fell in love with it and it was always on terrestrial channels for me to view giving me the chance to fall in love with it.
All the greats Ali Frazier Forman Leonard Hagler Hearns Duran I watched even Joe clueless Bugnar and Richard Dunn I loved boxing. After watching I wanted to be part of it and toddled off at the age of 10 to become the next Ali. I enjoyed every second in the gym, learning new stuff was fascinating to me, I will never forget that feeling of excitement when put in to my first bout a bit nervous but I had people who believed in me behind me and gave me the confidence to show my hard learned skills and win with a first round stoppage. I never became the next Ali or any where near but I loved it I loved every second of boxing.
My worry today is with most boxing on after kids bed times and most of it PPV or Sky which is again basically PPV for the sky package. Parents do tend to get kids in bed so they can watch in peace what they have paid for, or the parents go to the pub to watch it whilst the kids are watching reruns of Jeremy Kyle or some mind numbing soap opera at home. Where are these young kids who will fall in love with the sport like I did going to come from? they don't see it on tv much at all.
When I was 12 if you asked any kid around our area who is the best boxer around everyone had an answer be it Ali Foreman Hagler or Frazier, Kids now a days know very few boxers and there interest in the sport is minimal which is terrible in my eyes. All the kids I grew up with had a dream of becoming a footballer or a boxer.
Today unless parents take them to a gym like I did with my boy (fair enough he prefers Tai Boxing) he would never had the chance to try such a brilliant sport if I hadn't of took him, Why is this it's because kids don't see boxing on tv and don't have their eyes opened to such a brilliant sport.
As time goes on less and less boxing will be on terrestrial channels and kids will think boxing is what McDonald's workers do with Happy Meals. Scary thoughts to a pure boxing fan like myself I even worry the next Ali could slip through the net as they might never know themselves just how good they could become or the enjoyment they can get from boxing as they never see it and that leads them to never trying it.
I know PPV installs huge cash in pockets of the fight game staff promoters boxers etc but isn't it about time that a terrestrial channel showed the PPV events say a week later so kids can view it, I guarantee 99% of the little mites won't know the results. When I say terrestrial I mean BBC ITV CH4 CH5 not Sky Sports12345.
Give the kids a chance to watch and love it or hate it but give them the chance to choose before they all end up with a dream of being in some crap like TOWIE or X factor.

I don't think it's scripted as such but have a real feeling it's rigged in some way, as in encouraged to rile each other which is obvious I guess, it wouldn't surprise me if they had a laugh afterwards at all. I will say Haye seemed quite rattled in an interview after the conference which suggests some actual real emotion I didn't expect, either that or he is a better actor than Bellew thinks he is. Maybe Hearn got him more riled than anything, they should get it on, probably a better match up...

I am finding Bellew a bit disappointing, he really isn't that witty actually and most of his material is bad, I think Haye made him look silly but seemed too angry and emotional. To be honest I have no faith in this fight, it wouldn't surprise me is it is rigged to go a few rounds, not saying it is but wouldn't surprise me. I feel the public are being taken for mugs, I get the same feeling I had around the Audley Harrison fight. In fact I would be amazed if the fight actually happens, it's a long time away and Haye isn't exactly reliable. I just feel the whole thing is a farce to be honest, hopefully I'm wrong. Who knows, after the chisora pre fight farce the actual fight was a decent scrap...

No doubt. Brook rates highly on Sky sports and after the GGG fight will do well on ppv vs the right opponent.

Remember even Bellew v cleverly did good ppv numbers.

There is nothing stopping terrestrial TV picking up fights. They are just not prepared to pay for boxing.

Without Sky there would be no boxing on TV.

It's a different time now and all sports are on pay TV. Football, rugby, cricket, tennis, boxing etc etc.

It doesn't mean those sports will die

Exactly. The vast majority of people just wanna see two guys who don't like each other fight. If the fight is good those people go away happy even if they paid for it on ppv as it's an entertainment business.

In schools most sports tennis football rugby cricket even rounder's are practised at some point generating an interest or disinterest , Boxing isn't. It is a sport which the younger gen need to see a lot more than they do now.

It is a travesty terrestrial won't pay for boxing but as I said how much would it cost them to show the full nights boxing events a week later? The audience would be good and the younger gen could sit and be wowed by it.

I was speaking to a few lads about 9 years old the other day about boxing 1 thought John Cena was a boxer another thought Anderson Silva was the best boxer because his dad said he was and the other 2 knew who AJ was but no other boxers. If I was asked about boxing at there age I could reel them off what weight they fought at and most probably there record so far. They had never watched boxing on tv, seriously that is scary to me.
I know there are loads more channels to choose from now but there has to be a way of getting boxing to the young uns.
