If UFC is replacing boxing as many suggest, why are their premier names feeling the need to get boxing licenses? Either they think they can earn more boxing, are doing it for cheap publicity under the instruction of Dana White... or maybe because the way UFC basically owns their fighters like commodities is starting to wear a little thin for them. UFC is a franchise system, at least in boxing the fighters can choose who is going to rip them off...

Nate will go really well. He is levels above McGregor as far as boxing goes. Andre Ward vouched for Diaz a while back. He said that he could go well in boxing. I don't doubt that. I haven't heard many boxers come out and say that McGregor would go well in boxing.

He's got the heart to fight anybody, but boxing is a whole different level than standing on the feet in an octagon. Diaz gets lit up against any sturdy amatuer, and gets destroyed by any real boxer on the block. Ward whoops him and nick in sparring, there's Levels to this type of standup.

Didn't McGregor repeatedly drop Diaz with punches?

Diaz punching technique is tragic, the only thing he has going for him in boxing is his chin. He would be someone a prospect uses to get rounds in if he were to convert to boxing. It's like a baseball player converting to cricket or vice versa, sure the sports can be simplified down to 'hitting a ball with a bat' and 'punching someone' but the reality is they are very different.

Publicity. I can only imagine McGregor's trash talk if he beats a faded champ like Pauli Malinaggi. All the UFC fan boys will exclaim Conor, the GOAT, beat a boxing champ under boxing rules.

Haha good for Nate. He has decent boxing skills, matched correctly, he should do ok. If you want to check a fighter with serious boxing skills way better than McGregor's, checkout Matt Embree. He's a kickboxer, but the guy has developed serious boxing skills lately and has the fundamentals down. Technically brilliant, he keeps it up, he'll be a future mma star and have no problem adjusting in pro boxing.

From what I've seen of McGregor sparring, Paulie could stay in the suit he wears for commentaries, step in the ring with the mic, call his own fight... and still get a wide UD
