You spent enough time, thought, and care to make a freaking thread whining about people being inconsistent in their rooting interests. They like who they like. They like what they like. Why in the world would you care so much? ^ I think is what he's saying.
No fail at all. Most of the boxing purists will rattle off names of massive clinchers and general foulers and put them in a pedestal. That's the whole point of the thread. You are the one that fails.
Except, it takes me very little time to think and write that. Does it take you hours to formulate a thread and then you lose sleep over it or something? I guess you two need help because I just casually posted that in a couple of minutes and I don't make threads often anyway. Nice attempt to turn a thread into some kind of massive endeavour by putting "freaking" in front of it. It's just a thread, haha.
You don't seem to recognise the oxymoronic aspect to your post. If they are 'rattling off' the names of clinchers and foulers clearly they are not as hung up on the purity aspect as you suggest. Otherwise they wouldn't like them, because their style is not 'pure'. Ergo, fans of such fighters cannot be boxing purists. It really is very simple. Do you really think fans of, say, Andre Ward don't know that he employs the dark arts of fighting? What this boils down to is, you don't like certain fighters and drafted a post to say this by proxy...
Of course I don't like those fighters. I wouldn't post this if I did. What a useless comment. And all you did in that post is prove me right. What you said about the oxymoron is similar to what I meant. Don't become a lawyer please, you'll make a case for the opposition.
Terrible generalization! To say everyone that likes the sweet science condones cheating is just plain, flat out stupid! And please stop acting like boxing has never had dirty fighters in it! Let me guess... you wanted Kovalev to win over Ward! I bet you predicted a Kovalev knockout didn't you? LOL you guys never let me down! Still crying about a situation you cannot control! I find that so damned funny! Man you guys really cry a lot and over nothing! But I do enjoy all the cry baby antics!
Well I see it like this, if I'm with a group of people talking about boxing and one guy says anyone who likes offensive fighters is a simple minded snob who doesn't understand what he's looking at I would think he was a *** and tune him out. Same applies here
Nope, I predicted a 50/50 fight. This thread is more about the general phenomenon. All that loling and fake laughing tells me you thought Kov really did win though. I called them "sweet science hipsters" for a reason. Not all belong to that group. Sure there are good boxing purist fans out there, but the majority belong in the hipster category. It's the Floyd Mayweather phenomenon. He brought all these new fans that like him because he's undefeated and talks **** and will defend him to no end. Though there were hipsters before Mayweather. Funnily enough, Floyd isn't really that bad and I don't include him in this category. He depends more heavily on his skills. The problem is these hipsters will spit out the same bull**** for every other so called slick fighter when the majority really are just garbage spoilers. You are most likely one of those.
I don't know if you are including Floyd, but I actually think Floyd, although he does run and clinch, is a pretty good example of a good pure boxer. I find him boring, but I recognize his skill. I disagree with the hipsters when they call every one of his performance a schooling though. Like the Pac fight. Not even close to a schooling. It was him running and landing a few more shots every round than Pac. He won clearly, but it wasn't impressive. Those that call it a schooling are the typical sweet science hipsters.
You're a genius!!! The first post I wrote after the fight was that Kovalev won! I did predict a Ward victory but, felt Kov did enough throughout the entire fight and landed the harder shots as well, add into the mix, the knock down and I got Kov winning in a tough, scrappy fight! As I mentioned before, I don't think the fight was a robbery but, a close fight! The Kovalev fans should, at the very least admit as much and give Ward a little credit! The fact that the Kovalev fans don't do this and cry and whine about it is what makes me laugh at you guys! The excuses and rage is good stuff. It's like the punkass bully in a Christmas story that Ralphy had enough of and went hog wild on! That feeling of retribution! The fact that many of the Kovalev fans don't know how to cope with his loss is amazing! LOL As far as Mayweather is concerned, Just bringing up his name automatically polarizes the fans. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing but , he did what he did and fought decent opposition and remained unbeaten. That has to mean something in the boxing world but, there is a contingent of fans that will never give FM his just dues for one reason or another. Anyway, keep making interesting threads!
