I agree with that. I just can't buy his antics when "trying to get up". The question for me is if he threw it in because he thought he was going to get outclassed and knocked out, which I think he was, or because the fix was in.

Oh boy,you get dumber by the post..First off the anchor punch is a martial arts reverse punch technique. Second this VERY VIDEO shows the punch land at 2:32 ,it lands b/c it is shown to rattle Listons (even in slow motion ) head . When someone gets clipped on the jaw it is very hard to fake such a reaction. Thirdly ,Liston does get up ,but the fight is stopped prematurely for whatever reason on the FEET. Fourth where do you see or hear Ali claim what quote you posted of him?? the fact is he doesn't,and is not even near him very long as hes running around the ring. motioning someone to get up is not remotely close to what you posted .

In short keep posting your own fictional views.I know how much you love to go against video footage of the ACTUAL occurances.. :risas3:

The punch was a shoulder snap right that starts from the bottom.

A reverse punch starts from the hip and transers the energy to the end of the fist after the snap, another fool who knows nothing about mechanics either right here lol

Let’s say that you are going to throw a fight against me.

    Let’s say that I don't know that.

What is going to be the most failsafe way to do it?

You obviously want to call the round in order to get the best odds.

If you decide to throw it in the 5th round, there is always the risk that I might knock you out before then.

This is exacerbated by the fact that you can’t resist me too vigorously, for fear of knocking me out.

Either of these scenarios breaks the script, and risks you being in a lot of trouble with the people who paid you.

What you are probably going to do is go down in the first round, and early in the first round.

A shock first round knockout is always suspicious in my eyes, especially if the fighter is durable.

That's a shoulder snap punch off the back foot and the hip.
Not a backwards crouching tiger hidden martial arts technique.
    This is box.

You have no clue what your're talking about, you incorporate the motions into boxing with that punch.

The right-hand counter Muhammad Ali used to knock out Sonny Liston in the opening round of their 1965 rematch is known as “The Anchor Punch.” The legend goes that the great Jack Johnson, the first black man to win the heavyweight championship of the world, taught the punch to Stepin Fetchit, a 63-year-old actor, on the night of Ali-Liston II, who in turn handed down the mysteries of the deathly blow to Ali.

    Ali said of the punch:

“It’s a snap punch. You can’t see it, but if you hit by it, you all be knocked out.”

I don't know how accurate the above is but I can tell you from REAL ppl I know how he got the idea of that punch.

The ref stopped the fight not Liston..why does everyone think he was stopped? He got up and was fighting back.

Well rez the hard reality is I do know the best martial artists on the planet, maybe you should scope them out, maybe some real trainers too because from what I saw you need good striking mechanics. while I was at his award ceromonie I sat next to a good friend HW boxer Owen Beck who is under my instructor in Martial arts.

I have boxing sanctioned bouts! You cant even hit a HB with good to average skill, and all honesty i wish you luck. The guys I spar with ( the guys you THINK you hit like) would step on you. and regardless a martial artist or not ,I know boxing and studied it before you were born and have family tied to boxing more than you know, unfortunalty too, im a good judgement in character ,you and the other clown Dago Wop aren't going far by any means, ones a whiner and you are joker .

Does anyone claim that there was a count that Liston could hear ?
