25 pounds of feces in his intestines? That's a lot of pasta! With Meatballs!

A natural 210 enhanced by pasta and meatballs.

Just because he trained like a beast during his camps doesn't mean he could not be a fat ass between fights.

He wasn't in shape at 210,thats not his fight weight ,which is why he was 185 in a 5'9 body..

    I don't know.

I personally don't know enough about the science of weight making.

But let's take Julio Chavez Jr as an example.

Come fight night he's the same size as Marciano but he has been able to make a weight limit of 168.

My working theory is that there is a world of difference between a rehydrated weight of 190 and a fight night weight of 190 that old timers would have weighed.

Surely a lot of Julio's weight post weigh in is artificial bulk and not effective lean muscle. Where as that isn't true for Rocky.

I see it more as if Julio can artificially add 30 pounds of weight then so can Rocky. As opposed to seeing it as Julio being a CW who boils down.

    That's my interpretation anyways.

So on that basis I don't think Rocky could easily lose any weight from what we saw him fight at.

Yes. Using modern methods he could do it easily.

Most of the bulk Julio gains back as weight after the weigh in is water that's going to the muscles and other organs.

That isn't artificial bulk as your muscles need a lot of fluid to function properly.

Highly doubtful...and if he chose to emaciate himself...he would do very poorly.

I don't get why this is getting mystified by some. That Rocky was lean muscle at 185 lbs has nothing to with if he could dehydrate 15-20 lbs of water before the weigh-in and then rehydrate in time for the fight. Seeing how there are plenty fighters who do this, I can't see why Rocky couldn't.

And to get down to 175 lbs he would just have to do the quite standard draining that guys like Golovkin and Kovalev do. And it doesn't matter how little fat he would have or how much he would run every day, since this is water we're talking about. Not fat or muscle. Water.

But Julio at 190 is clearly not the same weight class as Marciano at 190.

168 might be a stretch as he was in the best shape humanly possible at 185.

That's the point. Fighters who cut a lot of weight are absolutely not "in the best shape humanly possible". They are very far from it. It's a case of how much you can lose between in the best shape humanly possible and in functional shape in the ring.

I can't agree that 24hr weigh ins and sixty years of weight-cutting evolution would result in an emaciated Marciano. But probably you don't mean the word literally, more that he wouldn't do very well because of weight-drain, as you say.

This might not be as far from what happened in Marciano's day as you might think.

For example Archie Moore was coming into heavyweight fights at a similar weight, while he was still actively defending the light heavyweight title.

The question that nobody is asking is why Marciano never attempted to make the light heavyweight limit in his own day?

He was coming up against some pretty big guys early in his career, and he didn't weight any more than the light heavyweights of the day did in catchweigth fights.

Perhaps the fact that he never attempted it tells us something?
