There are a lot of good fights this weekend, so let's have a little mini-competition to predict the outcomes. So, ladies and gents, predict the following seven matches in your replies to this post: 1. Charlo - Williams 2. Crawford - Molina Jr 3. Parker - Ruiz 4. Lipinets - Zappavigna 5. Joshua - Molina 6. Whyte - Chisora 7. Cuellar - Mares Rules are simple: Pick the winner (or a draw) of each fight listed and the method, either knock-out (which includes KO/TKO/RTD) or decision (which includes SD/MD/UD). The winner is the person with the most correct fight results, with the number of correctly predicted knock-out or decision victories being the tiebreak. Just like in Kirk's league. If it is still tied, correctly predicted KO rounds will be used to decide the overall winner. After the weekend's fights I will edit this post to honour the winners below. Winner(s): 1. james5000 (7 correct winners, 6 correct knock-out / decision picks) 2. DoubleJab666 (7 correct winners, 5 correct knock-out / decision picks) 3. Omair (7 correct winners, 3 correct knock-out / decision picks, 1 exact pick: Joshua TKO 3) Congratulations to the winners!!! Note: entries close as soon as Parker-Ruiz begins on Saturday (morning for U.S. and European time-zones).
Here are my stabs in the dark... Charlo - UD Crawford - TKO 9 Parker - UD Lipinets - SD Joshua - TKO 5 Whyte - UD Mares - SD
1. Charlo - Williams Williams on points 2. Crawford - Molina Jr Crawford on points 3. Parker - Ruiz Parker ko 5 Ruiz jr 4. Lipinets - Zappavigna Lipinets ko 7 Zappavigna 5. Joshua - Molina Joshua ko 3 Molina 6. Whyte - Chisora Whyte ko 6 Chisora 7. Cuellar - Mares Cuellar on points
Willams by decision Crawford by decision Parker by decision Lipinets TKO 7 Joshua TKO 4 (note that if he knocks Molina unconscious but the referee stops the fight before reaching the count of 10 it is officially a TKO, not a KO) Whyte by decision Cuellar by decision I'm not distinguishing between unamimous or split decisions, sorry. Split decisions only mean one judge (or more) got it wrong, and it would make more sense to predict the score. The rule about exact round stoppages as tie-breakers is fair.
Yeah, no need to pick between the split, majority, and unanimous decisions. I just meant everyone should pick either a knockout (of any kind) or a decision (of any kind as well) - so what you have there is good. If you (or anyone else) win and get your specific TKO round predictions correct I'll note that in the original post though. edit: slight rule change, most have entered KO/TKO rounds, so these will be used as a further tiebreak if needed.
1. Charlo by SD 2. Crawford by TKO 3. Parker by KO 4. Lipinets by UD 5. Joshua by KO 6. Whyte by UD 7. Cuellar by UD
My picks: Charlo decision Crawford decision Parker decision Lipinets decision Joshua knock-out 5 Whyte decision Cuellar decision
Have you seen Lipinets and Zappavigna? I hadn't till I made my picks so watched clips of them both. Lipinets really looks a level above. Seems a pretty well-schooled offensive, front-foot fighter. While Zappavigna has padded his record at Aussie level and has lost every time he's stepped up to world level, and was hurt and stopped by Ammeth Diaz. And the bookies have Lipinets as the clear 1/9 fave, and Zappa 5/1 dog. So good luck
1 Charlo SD 2 Crawford tko 9 3 Parker UD 4 Lippinets ko 10 5 Joshua ko 4 6 Chisora SD 7 Cuellar tko 10
Williams SD (High possibility of a draw) Crawford UD Ruiz TKO11 Zappavigna MD Joshua TKO8 Whyte TKO9 Mares UD Screw this! I'm going with the underdog!
