Is Deontay Wilder 1 fight away from being a PPV attraction? Similar to May's rise from 2004-2005?

True but that's pretty much thank to the UK heavyweights. The only way Wilder will go PPV would be if he travels across the ditch...

1 big win is pushing it I think for a US PPV. It's possible certainty.

Absolutely not. Wilder has had fan-friendly wins already, and got a lot of buzz. But his resume is what's keeping him from gaining any real traction as a HW champion. He'd need big fights to sell a PPV. And against a known commodity. Aside form Wlad, maybe Tyson Fury, there isn't any big name HW's to attach his name to. Even if he fights Ortiz or Joshua, while both are top HW's, neither is very known. Hate to burst the bubble, but Wilder will very likely never be a PPV giant. And good, why the f*ck would you want to have to pay more to see him fight?

I'd pay $100 for him to rematch Dustin Nichols at a 325lb catchweight

I hear you on the excitement part and the fight that can be really huge is the Joshua fight. There is big potential to building that fight into a mega PPV. If Wilder beats the winner of Povetkin vs Sterverne, then knocks off Ortiz and Big Baby and Joshua knocks off Molina, Wlad, and Fury, that should set the stage for a really big money fight between the two of them.

No, MVC. Wilder is getting sparked as soon as he fights someone with a pulse

Put Vlad, Haye, or Povetkin in there and it will happen
Wilder's Best win so far is Charlie Zelenof. Lol

Nobody even knows who Wilder is. 1 fight won't change that, especially when no one in the States is watching it. Wilder is not drawing in viewers!

I think it will depend who he fights.
Ant Joshua in far fewer fights has been in PPV fights and will possibly be in a big PPV fight with Wlad next year.
I guess if Wilder gets fights with certain other HWs like Haye or Joshua he will get a big PPV fight.
Not that I am an expert but I think Wilder would possibly already have been in a big PPV event if based in the UK as he would likely have been having to face one of the top UK fighters and have been stepped up by now

That would be interesting. Ive not been sold on Povetkin. Wlad handled him easily and he was taken to the limit by a CW.
Its interesting when you get a title holder get by without taking the massive risks and then their old opponents get lucky and everyone on ESB uses that as some sort of marker.

Yet the whole Molina sales pitch was based on him rocking Wilder.

Wilder is pretty well known now , which is good for a HW these days. Especially a HW based in the US where the HW scene is dead.
