Meldonium fueled... You said it like that stuff was anabolic steroid. You can buy meldonium over the counter in several EE countries in fact if you used it you wouldn't feel anything different. It has a similar effect on sport performance as the workout supplement named L-Carnitine which is legal (because it is used by Western athletes but that is another story).

This performance only confirms what I have always thought about Parker, he's far more effective on the front foot. Luckily for him a lot of the other big names in the division are bigger than him and he would we the aggressor as he likes in those match ups.

He showed a good left hand, he's more consistent with the jab and while his left hook isn't particularly hard it's fast and flashy and will win him rounds. He showed he could once again box and win when needed, it's not where he is most comfortable but against Takam and now Ruiz Jr he was good enough on the back foot to win. I even think he's improved on the back foot since Takam, jab was better, a little more head movement but still nowhere near enough, learned to grab when needed. But someone like Povetkin would beat him if he can push Parker back.

Parker's right hand was totally nullified by Ruiz Jr. When Parker throws the right his shoulder goes too far across his body and it leaves him prone to be countered as he is out of position, compare that to AJ's or Wlad's right hand which is straight, thrown from the shoulder and they easily reset back into position minimising opportunities to counter. Parker couldn't throw the right as Andy was able to counter when he did. Parker needs to learn to throw a right more like Wlad, it doesn't always have to be a monster shot, just a good straight right lead than he can pop out quickly and pull back, adding that will make him harder to predict and harder to counter.

Ruiz Jr did as I expected though he didn't gas as bad as I suspected he would. He did well for 3 rounds but then his stamina issues surfaced and he was unable to apply any real pressure in the 2nd half. But he did better than expected late on, he looked far more composed late on than in some of his other fights and he showed a good chin, but lets be real with his weight handicap he's nothing but a gate keeper.

I agree that meldonium is nothing like anabolic steroids, however my point was simply that Takam is still better than Fred Kassi. Surely you can't disagree there?

Rocky Marciano was taught to fight shorter than his inches because trainer Charlie Goldman knew it would make him more awkward.

It doesn't suit Joe's punch selection when shorter guys press him. Andy would probably do well against Wilder for the same reasons - little inside fighting ability, prefers to loop his shots.

It is more to do with styles than talent.
