Ward wouldn't shake Kovalev's hand at the press conferences. Now he's saying that Duva has to understand that he is the A-Side (a moot point considering he received 3 million more than Kovalev in the first fight) and now that everyone's demanding a rematch (since the world saw him lose to Kovalev), he's threatening to retire.

It's amazing how much the opinion of boxing fans has changed towards Andre Ward after the Kovalev fight. From how people talk about him now, you'd think that every fight in his career had been won by hometown gift decision, or that Kovalev had completely starched him.

That said, would be amazed if Ward retires. Can't see that happening. Probably just talk and some bitterness over the public reaction to the fight on his part.

He's just playing the power game, showing who holds all the aces. I mean what's left for Krusher at 175 if Ward retires that would earn him anywhere close to $2m+? Especially now, as he doesn't have any belts for others to chase. The Ward loss has made Kovalev the chairman of the 'who needs him' club. Adonis wanted no part of him when he was world champion, so is even less likely to sign to fight now. Ward is just making Krusher and his team aware of who's in charge of any potential rematch negotiations...

to be fair iv always been very critical of andre ward, not from a boxing perspective but more relating to he's personality and how much of a liar he is

he is a narcissist and ignores reality and the truth to make himself look good, going into round 9 ,hunter ' we need to win all these rounds to win' going into round 12 ' we need the knockout to win' they didn't believe they won, let alone won cleanly. Then in the post fight interview ward wouldn't even aknowledge that the fight was close and he wasn't sure he would win, even though he's body language said the complete opposite

he somehow got 3 million more than kovalev, which i have no idea how he got, but fair play to him, that wasn't fair on kovalev. Now what does he want? kovalev to take a brand deal and fight for 30k in oakland with all american judges?

i don't know why im asking that question because we all know that's exactly what he wants. He was already treated like the A side when he has no right to it what so ever, god only knows what ridiculous demands he will want now, and he's attitude and actions are turning more and more fans off of him

kovalev has tons of options especially with the change in the 157 divison, he has a huge showdown with beterbiev, they could sell out a stadium in russia, bivol on the rise ,then gvodsyk and the other ukrainian that they could call russia vs ukraine. and also the stevenson fight if he wants it, he has tons of options

And that seems all the more of a ***** move considering the amount of concessions Kovalev made to make the fight with him which the vast majority of people think he lost.

What Hunter thought and said between rounds is not the same as what Ward said after the fight. Two people, two PoVs. You're conjoining them to make your point. Also, it's not unheard of for a trainer to use scare tactics to get the best out of their fighter. Hardly subtle psychology, but common practice. Whatever you or I think, I'm sure Ward honestly believes he won the fight...

exactly kovalev again like always took the very short end of the stick when in reality he should have been the one making demands. what ward is doing now is just making himself look like a power mad narcissistic jackass

In charge of what exactly?? Everything was in his favor already for the last fight? Except he didn't get to fight in Oakland. Surely he understands a fight of that magnitude belongs in vegas..

so your coach telling you basically you lost the fight, and ward not looking confident after the fight what so ever, translates into him being completely confideent that he won the fight and it wasn't even close? you can't be serious

that second point would make sense in most other fights but now this. If a coach has a guy with knockout power you tell them go for the knockout if they are well down, if a coach has a feather fisted guy who couldn't knock snow off a rope, he doesn't tell them go for the knock out, especially if the coach actually taught the fight was close and he's fighter wasn't down on the cards. Added to that he is facing a monster puncher who if he makes a mistake will knock him out, if hunter taught the fight was even close he wouldn't have told ward that, unless he is a terrible reckless trainer who knows nothing about boxing

with the way wards talking do you think he will give kovalev 2 million lmfao, the fight probably lost money or broke even they aren't going to give ward more than 5 million unless they take it off sergey

and a big stadium fight with beterbeiv in russia would make a ton of money ,same with gvodsyk

What one man says does validate the voracity of what another man thinks. You're right, Hunter may have had doubts, that doesn't mean Ward did or does. That's flawed logic...
