People do tend to acknowledge his power but even still it gets a little under-rated. Whyte is a young 245 lbs power puncher and landed bombs on Chisora for 12 rounds and couldn't drop him. Vitali who was a destructive puncher couldn't stop Chisora. Fury made Chisora quit but didn't drop him(Fury also previously went 12 rounds with him) Haye on the other hand went out in tennis shoes and blew Chisora away in 5 rounds.
Haye is extremely talented, skillful and deadly powerful with insane speed. you have to be a special fighter , fight him on the perfect night (ie: broken big TOE) to have a chance at beating him. He gets severely under-rated strictly due to him punching himself out when he was young and dumb and his lack of offense in his loss to Wlad. I give Wlad no credit for that win AND it means nothing to me that Haye lost , that loss is thrown in my trash bin. he literally had a broken big toe and tried fighting with it, but he shouldn't had ever been allowed to enter that ring in that condition . I remember the crazy trolls after that performance . most on here, (everywhere) were trying to convince themselves that injury did not make all the difference in the world. With that injury he loses all his talents , his speed, power and punch variety are gone, and he still hurt Wlad in round 12. you cannot get any power in your shots without full use of your foot ball and especially toes. So Wlad got to fight a CW without any of his elite talents. of course Wlad can keep an injured fighter at the end of his jab knowing nothing with snap is coming his way . Haye has as much if not more than every HW.. and now at 230 with his talents , very dangerous fight, he can end any fighter at any given time. Most under rated fighter on here
Haye before his retirement certainly had power and explosiveness, notwithstanding the Klitschko debacle. But I'm really not too sure about the latest version. He'll beat Bellew, but if he's confident that his level is still high, he ought to choose respectable opponents rather than De Mori's and Gjerjag and a CW.
Poor lad he stubbed his toe.. Award for the best hw unification loss excuse ever? Or worst! I hurt my pinky..
I heard Foreman suffered from a shattered fingernail in the Rumble in the Jungle. Therefore Ali's win doesn't count. Btw, indeed It was a great power display from Haye that night. That was definetly his best performance at HW and probably his best win.
I used to be a huge Haye fan but he has really lost my respect over the last few years. He is only in boxing now for the payday. Taking the Bellew fight confirms this. A real shame as he is super talented.
Haye has lots of talent speed and fire power however we don't know what.he has left mentally or physically he has fought no one of note since he came back.Time will tell.
got to admit, i smacked by little toe off the bed frame the other day. f*ckin killed for about 3 days. i feel for haye
Haye wasted his career at HW. As much of an ass as he is, I really liked watching him fight. And yes, he has huge power.
Massively underrated and underestimated even today. Can't wait to see how he looks against bellew, Hes had a long time out still waiting to see if he's still got it, Hes added a lot of mass since he fought dell boy and appears to be punching harder than ever. Haye vs any of the top heavies is a mega fight.
