Parker seemingly mastering the art of winning the competitive decision. Pretty rare skill at heavyweight.

"I'm embarrassed being a Kiwi after last night."

Those were the words of Lance Revill, President of the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association, following Joseph Parker's historic victory over Andy Ruiz Jr last night.

"Let's get one thing straight, I'm a great friend of Joseph Parker, he's been to my gym a number of times, he's sparred with my heavyweights when he was an amateur. I've got a lot of time for him," Revill told Tony Veitch the morning after Parker claimed the WBO world heavyweight title. "I'm afraid to say that he didn't win the fight last night. Ruiz cleaned him out."

"I scored it 118-111 in favour of Ruiz," said Revill in what many will regard as a controversial summary of the fight. "Parker had no game-plan.

"It was a lopsided fight and I feel sorry for Andy Ruiz. Something stinks about this fight, something stinks about the whole set-up. There wasn't a bad word said about Joseph Parker. The whole press is on his side, he's been given a dream ride right through."

"I know one thing for sure last night, Parker didn't win that fight. And I want to make it clear with everyone else, cut your bull****, cut saying he's an honorable Samoan/New Zealander, it's bull****. He didn't win the fight last night and get real New Zealand because we haven't got a New Zealand heavyweight champion. Ruiz got ripped off last night."

Gotta agree with Lance there.. Parker and Dean Lonagrin are a bunch of scammers. Ripping off their country men with expensive premature pay per views right from the get -go.
Then they have the audacity to shame those who didn't want to ripped off live on air. Disgraceful behaviour.

Winning a vacant title against a low ranked contender is as weak as it gets.. Parkers as much a champ as Burns is a champ at 140

His score (118-111 Ruiz) is rubbish, he needs glasses.

Parker got a very easy route to a world belt, I'll admit, and that wasn't an elite performance last Saturday.

But Revill's score is way off, it was a close fight.

Parker doesn't box like a heavyweight. Pretty light on his feet. The problem: he is way too risky for the heavyweight division and gonne get knock out sooner or later.

Actually if it wasn't for his superb chin Takam may have taken him out.

I was watching that one and was genuinely concerned, as was Parker's corner.

No I dont think so. Compared to Joshuas route with "nothing special" Martin, Breazeale and Molina. Parkers Dimintrenko, Takam and Ruiz are way better. Molina didnt even fight! Ruiz sure did. If Parkers had a very easy route , then Joshuas had a super easy route IMO. Takam and Ruiz would give Joshua a decent fight. Since the Parker fight, Takam has struggled to find a top name opponent.

He might do because he has worn some shots and has showed a decent chin but anyone can be knocked.

For a moment in that Ruiz fight, I thought he was fighting like Ali. Defintely on his toes and as you say, light on his feet - thats a good thing.

Yes, Joshua got a super easy route absolutely.

I was comparing Parker to people like Tua, he had to go through many top-level HWs only to get to a prime Lennox Lewis. Or even the fighters who had to beat a prime Klitschko to win a world title.

Oh I see. Tua has a very good resume. His earlier losses were close, except for the Lewis bout. It even took Tua awhile. Defintely had it tough.

Yep, he did. Great fighter, if he was prime right now he'd be a MAJOR force.
