I honestly don't ever want to see Kirkland in the ring again he's a brutal ko waiting to happen. I hope he doesn't get seriously hurt if this fight happens.

So Cotto takes on a chain of tough fights, loses his last fight and decides to return against a tune-up quality opponent and now he's shameful?. The stupidity of Boxing fans can be rather disturbing sometimes.

I think if this was on HBO instead of PPV, people wouldn't have a problem with it....

Not really. Trinidad had a far worse tune-up in his return against Mayorga(moved up two weights to make this fight) on PPV yet no one complained. Remember Tyson vs Etienne on PPV?. How about Golovkin vs Lemieux on PPV?. The examples are endless.

Tyson-Ettienne was on Showtime, but at that time showtime had an option for non subscribers to purchase the event as a PPV for $20-$25 I do remember. I watched that fight on regular showtime. Trinidad-Mayorga was in 2004 and fans were a lot different back then compared to now, and it pitted 2 exciting fighters facing eachother. Also the PPV'S were cheaper to order back then too. Cotto-Kirkland is a total mismatch and it's going to cost fans $65-$70 a pop to see it live. They should have put it on HBO, but oh well.

That's precisely my problem with this fight. Cotto's taken a lot of tough fights consecutively. None of that easy peasy PBC style "sorta-tough fight, easy fight" schedule. He deserves what should be an entertaining scrap, at his own behest. But the PPV is a sham.

Miss-use of ppv. Better have a stacked undercard.

It's on PPV man. Why not fight Vanes at least? Why does Kirkland, who is clearly washed up deserve a multi million dollar payday? This is nonsense

Or even Austin Trout? Avenge his loss. There's plenty of dudes at 154 that have been more active and not as troubled as Kirkland

$25 back then can't be compared to $50 today either. All those fights I mentioned were known to being mismatches regardless of time frame and people still either purchased them or complained. I'm not justifying the event being on PPV, just letting you know that a lot worse have been on PPV. I personally think GGG vs Lemieux being on PPV is FAR more ridiculous than this and the examples are endless.

Tyson-Ettienne wasn't a PPV though. It was free to showtime subscribers. Just saying. But I hear what you're saying, but if you want to spend your money on Cotto-Kirkland, more power to you.

Both Kirkland and Cotto are past it, it's not only Kirkland that's washed up here. That's the point of this fight, Cotto is past it and is coming off a loss so it's only normal for him to face off against someone in a similar position. If you expect him to return from a loss and move up to fight Kovalev then your expectations are deluded.

Never said I'll spend money on it, just explaining to you that there were far worse PPV events out there. If people paid for GGG vs Lemieux, then don't be surprised if they'll pay for this one too.
