Tale of the tape requests for the following fighters: Holyfield, Mercer, Vitali Klitschko, McCall, Cobb, Chuvalo, Valuev, and Tua. I'm looking for the neck size of the following fighters to support a hypothesis of mine that says the best chins tend to go to the fighters with the largest neck ( in shape not fat ). The other portion of the equation is visible. Shorter necks in boxing are better is than longer ones. Thanks in advance to those who can offer data.
Never noticed Cobb McCall or Mercer having more than anvaverage size neck for an athlete especially Cobb. Mercer was a thick guy as was McCall. Cooper started out as a powerlifter so he had some size. I know Chuvalo Holy and Klitschko all did neck work. I have no idea about measurements though. Holy and Tyson seem to have had the biggest necks though.
Here is a taleofthe tape for Tyson. YOu will have to convert to inches though. http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/a...||requestHandler|||dateFrom|||dateTo|||sortby Off topic, but it is interesting to note that on the day of his divorce, Robin Givens stated that he was the best fighter in the world. Now there is an expert opinion with no bias.
Thanks, Boilermaker. 50 centimerters = 19.685 inches. Holy and Tyson took good punches, but Holy's heart was far better. I had Holyfield at 19" Mercer had a fire hydrant like neck.
