I actually quite like Jr, not so much as a person but purely based on what I see in the ring, I find him entertaining to watch and believe he has the potential to become a very good world level operator. However I can not defend him one bit with this decision, ludacris to to even think he has the star power to headline a PPV in this sort of fight, AJ may be able to get away with it but he's not AJ.

Really disappointed by ITV in all this, I was actually quite excited about the idea of terrestrial tv having a PPV platform in the hope that it could create a buzz around boxing and get some huge fights lined up, can't see that happening now though.

What date is Eubank jr on PPV? Just I think I saw him say February, i've saw something suggesting a few fighters on ITV Janaury, surely if they have earlier dates and they really insist on Eubank jr being PPV they could have gave him a couple starting in January on terrestrial then went PPV back end of the year?

    Jesus...

I like watching Eubank Jr but I wouldn't pay to watch him headline on ppv in a fight like this...

Nothing to add to this joke of an announcement that hasn't been said already. Embarrassing and it will show when the numbers come out after the fight.

And also, moving up to SMW will be a shock for him. Groves, DeGale and C.Smith all beat him and relatively comfortably at that.

I'm guessing he's hoping to set up big domestic showdowns vs the above on terrestrial TV like his old man had with the Benn, Watson, Collins.
And being a world champion (lol) he probably believes gives him credibility to bring to the table.

I think this is all gonna fold like a house of cards. But it would be good to see him in the ring with the SMW's.

    Seriously????

Why is everyone being so negative....

With this announcement most people are losing the will to live, who in the right mind would pay to watch this utter nonsense.

Jesus christ, i know fwank and eddie come in for some stick at times, but even they would be embarrassed to admit to trying promote this utter shtie.

Just seen on Jnr's twitter: "After I become Champion I will clean up the SMW division by winning the EBU strap, becoming a Unified P4P god."
    The man is unstoppable!

    Exactly.

There are a plethora of big fights available for him at 160. He has flat out ducked Jacobs when he was mandatory, ducked GGG by not signing and has shown no interest in avenging his loss vs Saunders. Fair enough if he went to 168 for a big fight vs say a DeGale or a Groves, but this is a joke.

You really couldn't make this up.
They talk about fighting this one and that one.
The only time they stepped up a little they got beat off a mediocre Saunders.
Then they're moving up to fight someone no ones heard of for what isn't even a paper title it doesn't even qualify as high as that.
Then they're putting it on PPV! FFS!
I'm becoming more disillusioned by the day.

Serious question...his dad was a huge name in the UK and he had some big domestic fights against Watson, Benn & Collins...but can he hold his hands up and say he fought the best 'internationally'?

His dad? The undercard will likely be made up of Goodwin/Hennessy fighters I'd presume.

I hope that ITV shows boxing regularly even if it is just a handful of times a year.
