If that proved to be true, that hardly makes Parker out to be a **** fighter when people are making the case that AJ may be the second coming of God and the subset Parker joins would involve every other active heavyweight. You've been making out like Parker is going to get nowhere for ages. Not matter what spin you put on it, it's all irrelevant now. He beat the #3 contender and the #5 contender from two different associations within months of each other and now holds a world title. He's gone far beyond all estimations you had of him to date, anything you say now is irrelevant. There are very few current HW fighters that anyone with a clue would bet on if they were facing Parker. Anyone who ends up in that position is not a bum.
No, I never wrote he will go nowhere.I wrote he most likely will win a title but also said he is not a top heavyweight.I never wrote he is worthless.
Most of his fans here are realistic enough to realize he's not the finished product yet. Few (and none on here) think he beats Joshua at this stage. Honestly, please give the anti-Parker stuff a rest, his skills may not be top-class but he's a genuinely good guy with a good attitude who is a solid top 10 HW. True, he got a world title via an easy route compared to past fighters, but the other beltholders got it about as easily too (AJ - Martin, Wilder - Stiverne, Parker - Takam then Ruiz).
Fair enough, it was a close fight, you can make a case for Ruiz Jr, and you have a right to your opinion, of course. Still, the majority of boxing writers thought it was a good decision, as did the majority in a poll on here, plus the Compubox stats back this up, so it wasn't a robbery by any means.
The future of the heavyweight division will be in Russia - Povetkin, Kuzmin, Plechko, Afonin, Romanov
Good, fast hands, good combination punching but only when in shape, he is gaining weight fast by every fight.
Houmzz you seem very knowledgeable on the HW division... could you give me your top 10 heavyweight prospects currently?..
1.Hughie Fury 2.Timur Musafarov, he is Timur Stark now.Beat Helenius unofficially.Beat Teper unofficially.Beat Boytsov unofficially.Still have only 10 fights but he will fight for the EU title next. 3.Andriy Rudenko. He beat Lucas Browne unofficially. 4.Bogdan Dinu 5.Gerald Washington 6.Sergey Kuzmin 7.Oscar Rivas 8.Rostislav Plecko 9.Junior Fa 10.Agit Kabayel.Looks promising, will fight for the vacant EBU title next.
good list. But don't you list Izu Ugonoh, Oleksandr Teslenko? I think Izu is best prospect now maybe.
No Izu was knocked down hard by a body punch in the sparring session by Wladimir. In a real fight, it would be a knockout.Kevin barry gave him some very soft opponents and previously he said that Izu needs more seasoning against lesser guys and then he would slowly give him better boxers to fight. As for Teslenko he needs to beat some better opposition for me to rate him higher.
