165 is gonna be a miracle, but in a non title fight, Jr will simply be paying Canelo a mil for coming over 165.

I see Jr coming in 2 lbs over the agreed catch but Canelo going thru wiht it knowing that he's a big man too, and would mangle Britsch, who Jr was only able to outbox.

Sure, he didn't pursue Ward - his best chance at getting a p4p level opponent, but it wasn't a "duck". Neither did Ward duck Golovkin as others have alleged.

 

I would need hours to describe my opinion of "ducking" for what it really means and for how it's used by the masses and even then it would read like a madman's scribbles.

 

Fair enough. It's a term which means different things to different people.

I use it in a restricted sense, only when it's clear + in the same weight class + reasonable financial offer on the table.

 

Call me a Alvarez fan but I don't agree if GG would have agreed to a weight it would of happened after Cotto he refuse to compromise and right now he's making a fuss about money. If anything it shows if your willing to bend a little interesting fights can happen, Golovkin has been inflexible with every name opponent he could have faced which is why he's still looking for a relevant win.

 

I'm going to have to disagree with the OP's sentiment. If canelo and chavez Jr DID come to an agreement, it would be HUGE. Imagine if they fought in Mexico. Sr filled up 70 seats for a fight, I can see this doing similar numbers. It would even sell huge in Texas IMO. While I hate the idea of canelo looking for any way to avoid 3G, this fight would be foolish to pass up.

 

156 lb and 17% purse was what GGG apparently wanted for last Sept. in a non-title fight after Canelo dropped the belt. That's flexible to me. I think that right now K2 will take the offer if it is $10 million + ppv upside, however a lot of other things need to be sorted out so be patient with the signing. K2 are busy trying to deal with Jacobs at the moment too.

Ward? GGG wasn't particularly flexible there, I'll concede that.

Canelo will move up, Ward moved up, Cotto moved up, Martinez moved up, ODLH moved up, RJJ moved up, BUT GGG will not move up or down to create a legacy?

Ggg can only blame himself for not cementing his legacy along side the greats. At 35 he's wasting his career if in fact he cared about making a mark in this sport.
