Still worth having a small bet on Jacobs with those odds. He's on form, he can hit, Golovkin can be hit, if anyone at 160 can do it it's Danny, and those odds are too good to pass up!
He's probably getting 1.55 plus a PPV % which could potentially earn him 3 mil if the PPV does better than did the Lemieux fight.
At 8-1 you'd be crazy NOT to put something on Jacobs. I totally expect GGG to win, but give Jacobs 8 tries and I reckon he could win one of them. Sure beats the lottery.
This cannot be true, if so it is discouraging because it sets an alarming president. Now Golovkin detractors will claim that potential opponents should all just hold out until they get what they want. Perhaps the PPV made this salary possible, without the PPV revenue I see no way Jacobs could have extorted 3 million out of them. Together GGG and Lemieux did not even make 4 million for their PPV fight. Clearly this time around they are raising ticket prices at MSG and hoping for at least 250K buys to cover the overhead.
I literally have no idea why people are excited about this fight, Jacobs isn't as good as Kell Brook and he also has a confirmed Glass Jaw. This is going to end early, very early. Having said that, it's a step-up from the dross that GGG usually fights. So I guess that's something to be cheerful about.
Jacobs is a flawed fighter. Ggg is a fighter who prefers to easiest route and seems to avoid the more challenging route at all costs.
Why are you trying to cover the sun with one finger? Does Ggg even care about his Legacy? Based on his actions I'm inclined to say no.
Because clearly GGG should be fighting the "bum of the month" that IsaL wants, and if he doesn't he's a fraud. Or so the argument goes. If Golovkin beat Ward and Kovalev on the same night, it's only because he was ducking Beterbiev and Stevenson. Haters gonna hate ...
Just want to add to your comment. Not only is Jacobs his mandatory, but he was particularly difficult in the negotiations. A LOT of "champions" would have used that to avoid a dangerous challenger and plausibly claim that "Jacobs doesn't want the fight, so I will fight Bum X instead." But Golovkin's team gave him over and above the usual cut to make a fight that most other guys would have been happy to dodge.
