The video only shows Jack Dempsey, so how are we to judge from it if he's the dirtiest ?

Possibly, but this is such a deep category, that it is hard to say that he definitely takes it!

Kidney and rabbit punches may not have been fouls under the agreed rules for some of those fights.
    Queensberry rules doesn't prohibit them.

Ohh look at the body shot head shot combination at 9:25.
And that 2 punch combo at 9:49, whoa.

One thing I never realized until now is that Sharkey already going down before the lefthook lands on his chin. I had never seen it that slowed down before.

You may not watch MMA but Dan Henderson doing a flying right hook on Bisping is probably the archetypal "one more just to make sure" incident. There's probably gifs of it out there if you are interested. I'm surprised he didn't do permanent damage.

In 1938 a lot of the American press mentioned, in response to Schmeling's claim that he'd been fouled by Joe Louis, that the "kidney punch" was not in fact prohibited by the Queensberry and NY rules.
Whether that is true or not I don't know, since I don't have the NY rules at hand.

Can anyone confirm whether the kidney punch was banned for Jack Dempsey's fights with Brennan (NY) and Carpentier (NJ) like the video suggests ?
I thought those were legal punches, but I might be very much mistaken.

I think that title belongs to either Marciano or Tyson.

The thing is he is such a cherrypicker he does not even realize when he cherrypicks!

As just one example he ignores headlines the days after Dempsey koed Sharkey such as:

"Film of fight shows body blows were legal"

One could put together a similar video of Holyfield, Tyson, Duran and countless others.

Finally and punch on the beltline is a legit blow. Beltline was described in those days as an imaginary line that joins the hip bones.

I dont need headlines to tell me what I can watch. Dempsey was the money fighter in that fight, not Sharkey, and Rickard who was paying off reporters promoted that fight to give Dempsey legitimacy for a rematch with Tunney after being dominated the first time. Anyone watching those clips can tell you those punches were low. Jesus Christ you can see his trunks pop up after Dempsey hits the cup.

The way Dempsey was brought up basically on his own fighting grown men as a teenager in saloons mining camps hobo camps ect. without a doubt carried over in his boxing career.
A really tough man who lived a tough take no quarter and give no quarter life.

Marciano also knew how to use his head and low blows. His fight with Cockell is really dirty and its strange because he could have Cockell without the fouling.

Ive always criticised Carpentier for being one dimensional and having never changed his style over the course of his long career, despite being considered this master boxer. Im thinking about making one of these videos for him showing how limited he really was.
