Because my man Joseph Parker gets a bit of stick on here. I have heard...

    *Paper Champ
    *Ducked AJ to fight Ruiz
*Takam and Ruiz not top 15 etc etc

Yet The Ring had them both in their top 10 at the time of Parker fighting them. So where do you stand?

Do you you simply load up Boxrec, looking up the particular sanctioning body rankings, or consider The Ring as the ranking of choice?

The ring rankings are subjective and while they can occasionally be good i don't rate them in the slightest because they are a bought and paid for propaganda source for golden boy

Like canelo still holding the ring middleweight belt despite never fitting at the 160 limit and ducking

Like Hopkins still being rated as the Nimber 3 light heavyweight after not having a fight for 2 years.

    They are a corrupt joke

I find Boxrec's ranks a little odd to be honest. They have Ortiz at No1 HW for example, which simply cannot be justified in my book. Ring, much better but the link below, the best imo

Any ranking during the time of a fight should be taken with a grain of salt. Way too often does a fighter have their ranking increased right before they are signed to fight somebody popular without them having actually done anything to deserve it.

With that being said Ruiz and Takam were both between 8 and 15 in a non biased rankings list at the time of their fights with Parker. But on paper that hardly sounds better than a win against Wawzryk who isn't a true top 15 at all.

On top of that boxrec doesn't have 1 heavyweight in the P4P but have 3 barely active welterweights on there.

It's possible to have a real ranking algorthm created but it's clear those at boxrec don't have the skill for that. Their algorithm is worst than that one poster with a solid ranking website. They are guidelines at best.

The Ring is a better ranking than the ABCs, but far from perfect. Takam and Ruiz Jr are good wins and Parker deserves credit, but either of them being Top 10 is dubious (Takam maybe less so).

They are boxing's unspoken official rating and they tend to be pretty fair but there are a small number of agenda ridden spots.

roman gonzalez is one as far as an agenda ridden spot, ring mag is also now owned by de la hoya, so it's not free from bias either, heavily linked to hbo, thank god you don't own ring mag tho you'd have lomachenko 1 2 3 4 and 5 on the list lol
