These are pretty cool http://archives.starkcenter.org/omeka/files/original/50990b293b3ac08a7d26c06bfa69641b.jpg http://archives.starkcenter.org/omeka/files/original/337744457c9e15f648a042de692540f7.jpg http://archives.starkcenter.org/omeka/files/original/2624fd8b14e3e46a0d2f35b8ce0d9601.jpg Can anyone confirm that the third photo is Fitz? Looks like it may not be him but was labeled as such.
Fitz was one tough powerful fighter. To me it's sad that time has overtaken his abilities and exploits. He does not get the credit today that he richly deserves.
Rez, you keep sharing great finds thank you. I Dont believe it was Bob, he had hair. Also, the first pic, showed the guys in those days were not cut n buffed, and 6 pac happy, like today's guys. The second pic showing his guard, is the real old school version, if you look at Gans thats the guard he uses and also look at Harry Wills the same. That guard changed from that position to the modern guard remember they used smaller gloves, 4 oz or skin tight gloves in Bob's time. When the glove got bigger as time went on the styles changed going from skin tight, to 4 oz to 6 and 8oz and now to 10oz as time went on. Not many if any use that guard today. Again thank you
I still long for the day when I can watch his fight with Corbett and be impressed for the entirety. The finishing blow tool great skill but the footwork and movement around the ring leaves a lot to be desired.
Is this the same guy as in the third photo? http://www.famousbirthdays.com/thumbnails/donovan-mike-medium.jpg Are there any photos of Fitzsimmons with normal hair?
I don't even see a slight resemblance! ... but then again, it's hard to tell from a profile photo. If it is Fitz, it must be a very early photo. Hmm... looking at it again, those could be Fitz's arms.
