Why couldn't Bowe do to Golota what Lewis and Tyson did?

You know Golota was way more past his best when Tyson faced him.....

    A few reasons:

Bowe was out of shape for the first fight.
Golota didn't freeze in either fight.
Golota utilized some movement - he didn't just stand there waiting to get iced
In the second fight, Bowe was shot.

Brewster also did Golota. Bowe wasn't good enough at pull it off at that point although it was entirely possible for a heavy hitter to do so. Samson Pouha showed that Golota was there to be taken before Bowe ever fought him.

The reason Bowe couldn`t do it was because he wasn`t Lennox Lewis. Lewis had some gifts that don`t come along in fighters that size very often. That right hand was lethal. His speed of hand was uncommon for a heavyweight 6-6. He was great at managing distance.

Bowe was already on the decline before he faced Golota. He ate himself out of contention IMO because his management ducked Lewis. He was depressed they didn't believe in him and never trained like he should've until it was too late.

Bowe physical condition when he faced Golotha was like Douglas when he fought Holyfield. More fat , less motivation.

    Bowe peaked v Holyfield 1
Regarding Lennox, well a good comparison is the Ty Biggs fight. Bowe finally got the better of Biggs after 8 back and forth rounds of action. In Biggs next fight Lennox simply overpowered him inside 3 rounds.Lennox did just about everything better than Bowe, apart from inside fighting.Bowe was a big guy with power, but not a knockout artist in the mould of Lennox v Golota/Grant/Ruddock etc. Bowe was a fine fighter up to a certain point, but his style saw him take alot of shots.Mentally he didnt have the strength of some of the greats and boxing damaged him mentally too, at a younger age that many who get damaged.
Some poor management decisions added to the mix.
On their day Lewis and Tyson were just more likely to put an opponent away early if they had a mind too. Lewis' cautious personality held back his legacy a little, as he laboured to a few wins that shouldve been easier.
The short answer to the original question is that Bowe generally had to take some to give some, whereas the same wasn't necessarily true with Tyson and or Lewis.

Lewis used to be more aggressive. Look at his fight against Rudock , but then Mccall landed that right hand. I think he could have beaten 2002 version of Tyson in round 5-6 but after a second career knocked out lost (a single punch from Rachman), its a smart thing for Lennox to be more cautious and took him out when Mike was totally weak. With reach adventage and accurate jab, Lennox not not necessarily need to trade punches. He did that though against Mercer, had a lucky escape with MD .

Bowe is not a typical big guy, he's a big that basically fight the way small fighter does. He trade punches and very good inside fighter.

Bowe lacked discipline, didn't train hard and got hit way too much .. he was no longer the fighter of the first Holyfield fight , you could tell buy his body how bad he looked .. for a short window of time Bowe was a great fighter, in my opinion capable of possibly beating Lewis .. funny when you see their olympic fight I have no idea what happened .. an amateur world ref was messing it all up .. Bowe did terrific in the first round and in the second he gets hit a bit and the ref stops it fast .. I never got that ..

People love to try to build up their TV heroes. Lennox Lewis was 6'4 3/4 not 6'6. Bowe a bigger puncher than Lewis which is why he was able to knock down and out Holyfield something Lewis couldn't do to a shot Holyfield.

As the smart members have stated Bowe was done by the time he face Golota the first time. Bowe also was around 6'4 3/4 and prime weight was around 230 but would blow up to 300 pounds in between fights. Losing that much weigh in a quick amount of time is extremely dangerous. You lose fluid around your brain when you do that.

As I stated before Bowe was never great. He beat Holyfield because Evander wanted to prove he could knock out big heavyweights since "boxing experts" kept telling him he couldn't. If you want to go even further Holyfield was a PED using cheat to begin with but that is another story all together. Anyway Bowe wasn't a good boxer, he was a good puncher. He was a dirty fighter who whole legacy is based off beating Holyfield.

But that being said the Bowe who fought Holyfield the first time would of stopped Golota early. You might didn't realize this but Golota career was never the same after Bowe either. The punches he took damaged him as well. Not many fighters have the body to absorb that kind of punishment and not suffer for it. Lewis got to him first when he was done, Then Michael Grant and by the time Tyson got to him he was a shell of the fighter he was at first which isn't saying much because Golota was never that good even at his peak.

Bowe was lighter and trained harder in the second fight with Golota. The fact he couldnt handle a long jab that was consistant i believe was a problem . Was Bowe Shot? im not so sure.

First time I agree 100% with blackhercules ^

Goddamn Holyfield created this "Bowe is a monster" mess in the first place. If Evander just stuck to his technical skills he'd have been 2-0 against Bowe, but nooo, he had to brawl. We love Holy for it, but it wasn't wise.
