Well since im one of the two people that said said its not even close ill reiterate.
Holmes jab is by far the best jab of any fighter in any weight class period. So yes its Holmes and its not even close.
I stand by it. Its my opinion.
The left jab is my favorite punch and jabbers have always been my favorite fighters. Ive studied the great jabbers to refine my own jab wen i was younger.
Holmes by far had the best.

How many fights have you watched?

That's is a wildly sweeping statement that can't possibly be backed up.

I've watched enough to know your statement is ridiculous.

Carlos Ortiz vs Joe Brown. Watch that fight and then tell me when Holmes displayed a better jab.

Ross vs Canzoneri is another that comes to mind.

Conteh vs Lopez is another one.

Watch those 3 and then try explaining why you think none of the 6 fighters have a jab even close to Larry Holmes.

Relying on pre YouTube fights has obviously skewed your opinion. There is a whole wealth of fights out there that can be watched instantly.

Like right now I'm sat at my mother in laws and fancy watching Manuel Ortiz against Luis Castillo. I can do that on my phone. I don't have to go digging through a collection or arrange a trade off of fights, I just load it up on my phone and watch it.

    Pinklon Thomas, not even close.
Except Berbick, but w/e he was a constipated heroin addict.
    hehe

    But it's really dependent.

Carl Williams could outjab Holmes but was his jab as effective on other kinds of boxers?
Even if somebody is being able to outjab Holmes, that doesn't mean the jab is heavy enough to keep a man off you as well as Holmes' jab could. So in one situation it can be better, in the other it isn't.

Foreman's extremely heavy jab is killer for shorter fighters like Frazier who have to come close, while Ali's lighter jab is able to land much quicker and disorient Foreman even if it doesn't have the same bite behind it while Ali has much more trouble keeping Frazier off him because there isn't as much bite behind it as Foreman's jab.

Then there's also the thing that better fighters often get their jab overrated.
Bruno outjabbed Lewis, Mercer after Holmes really improved his jab and it was effective against both Wlad and Lewis.
Golota absolutely destroyed Bowe's jab with his own.

How often do you hear people rating Bruno's jab or Mercer's jab above Lewis?

I have a feeling that people aren't isolating the jab in these kinds of threads.
Ray Mercer for example had a fantastic jab but because of other issues (fat/lack of other qualities) he wasn't as good as the ATG jabbers, but not because his jab was lacking.
And he never gets mentioned, even if his jab was just as good.
Simply because he wasn't as good

I think Winky Wright already has enough of a case to be declared a better jabber than Holmes.

There are too many great jabs to declare a best.

I can declare a best jabber or a top x list, but then I am also considering other qualities of the fighter as opposed to isolating just the jab.

Do u think I live in a cave and dont constantly youtube fights on my phone too..Yea and i know the fights ur talking about and I still stand by wat I said.
You got ur opinion I got mine. Mine is Holmes had the best jab of anybody I ever saw regardless of weight class.
You dont have to agree I dont care.
Wat I dont appreciate is u questioning how many fights I watched because it doesnt fit into your mold.
Thats why theres a forum to express our opinions.

I honestly feel that way. Not trying to ruffle any feathers but like i said earlier the jab is my favorite punch and ive spent a lifetime studying that punch and I honestly never saw a jab better than a prime Holmes.
Even a Quartey and Hearns who are on my list still werent able to use it like Holmes.
Hes on his own level in my book.

It's not that I disagree. It's that you can't possibly claim no other boxer has a jab even close to his.
