Vitali was hit by who? Lennox Lewis. The people who put him on the list act like he constantly got hit by world class punchers. George Chuvalo clearly has a good chin. But how many big time modern size heavyweights did he face? A young (extremely) wild Foreman and that was it. The Foreman who fought Norton and Frazier would of knocked him down and out. James Toney wasn't a heavyweight so just like Marciano why is he on this list? Valuev was just hard to hit at his height and it isn't like he constantly got his with power punches anyway.
i dont like looking up boxrec for facts . there was a fighter / can picture him just his name wont come to mind. late 80`s and 90s heavyweight always weighed around 230/235 always in shape won his first 20 something fights and was a prospect / then lost and turned into a rock solid journeyman fighting loads of prospects always taking them the distance. never decked that i ever remember / although he might have lost by stoppage in 1 of his very last fights / but a journeyman fighter like this losing virtually every fight but on points only is the tried and proven heavyweight chin. about 6.3 /light skinned black usa fighter.
only in my 50s but except for music my timeframe for remebering years is all rolling into 1 only a decade or 2 out on guinn. he had 50 fights plus at heavy never stopped.
You're not thinking of James "Bonecrusher" Smith are you? He sort of fits the general description. Some other good journeymen with iron chins in that period include Everett "Bigfoot" Martin and Marion Wilson, both of whom don't fit the size dimensions you are providing, or the skin tone.
i ****ed up on my timeframe / but i did start work at 5am this morning and as i work outside my excuse is that i got brainfreeze / that or alzeihners is kicking in
Yeah Tua should be up there. He fought a lot of good punchers and came forward wearing a lot. I dont remember Tua getting cut or having a badly messed up face after fights.
Oh I know who that it, and yes, his chin was ATG. In fact, his chin beat Wlad Klitschko. Ross "The Boss" Puritty. Needs to be on the chin list.
Ah! I used to have a real soft spot for Guinn. I remember during one fight the commentators noted that he had never been stopped or even down in his extensive amateur career. The same thing applies into advanced age, he seems impossible to even shake. A real iron chin in my opinion.
