wouldve cracked in his fight with Hearns who brutally dispatched Duran in two, especially with the Doctor threatening to stop the fight on cuts

How come he didnt crack in that big fight? it's what MANY thought would happen

9-6 for Hagler. Good fight. Even after 12 rounds. The bigger, younger champion took the fight in the last 3 rouns IMO. I didn`t see either fighter really hurt that night. They both were probably stunned at some point. That 12th round Duran really dropped some nasty right hand leads on Hagler and busted him up some but he was never in danger of going down as far as I could see.

Benitez career is one that fell of a cliff. Whatever it was perhaps years of not training or being dedicated he did lose it quick. He was certainly on the downside by 25 which happens in boxing.

That's how I see it, too. Pretty much agree with your 10-5 score as well.

 

10-5 would be close to the mark. If you go 9-6 you have the fight extremely close after 13 rounds and i don't think this is entirely accurate.

 

Duran had a great 12th and 13th round which on my card if I remember correctly made it a fight Duran would win if he took 14 and 15. However Hagler corner got him all fired up and he came out and overwhelmed Duran in both rounds. In my book those two final rounds made it a clear win for Hagler.

 

that's how i had it. imo, after rd 13, i felt hagler's title was in jeopardy because he was goofing off - switching stances, waiting for duran to lead, dancing, and not putting anything behind his punches. 8-7 for hagler

 

If only Roberto had held it for those two rounds!.....where on earth would he be rated than as an ATG

 

I can't give fighters extra points for being "slick" or pretty or pulling out a cute move here and there.
If a punch scores that's fine but you don't get extra for making it look clever.
