It rarely happens. Unless a fighter is battered, hurt, all but knocked down and only just hanging on judges refrain from scoring 10-8 rds. Actually I can't remember the last time it happened in major fight. It should happen more often and a fighter should not necessarily be hurt to have a 10-8 rd scored against him. You have to look at the complexion of a fight and 2 recent fights come to mind. In the Garcia v Peterson fight Peterson did virtually nothing in the 1st 6 rds and Garcia did only a little more than nothing to win those rds by a razor thin margin. Then in the last 6 Peterson came on and was totally dominate in at least 2 and should have justifiably been awarded those rds 10-8 even though Garcia was in no way hurt. Lomachenko Solido was close For 11 rds then Loma dominated the last rd and Solido was badly hurt. Loma should have been more highly paid for by far the most dominate rd in that fight. I know boxing commissions frown on loosely handing out 2 pt margins but it should happen more often than it does.

it rarely happens in the usa. 10-8 and 10-10 rounds are pretty common in quebec and argentina, 10-10 rounds are fairly common in the uk. they are almost unheard of in the usa

Ought to be rare, like a 10-10 even frame, but like a 10-10 also not something that should NEVER BE scored. It actually is appropriate sometimes.

There was a few Pacquiao fights where the action was so one sided in some of the rounds I had no choice but to score 10-8. The DLH fight had a couple or rounds I scored 10-8. The Margarito fight there was at least one round there I scored 10-8.
I'm sure there's been a few other Pacquiao fights that had some 10-8's without the benefit of a knockdown.

Judging would need a huge overhaul to have a bunch of 10-8 rounds. Thats a possible idea that is often discussed, having a greater range of scores to better reflect how fights go. But as of now its not being done.

A 10-8 with no KD does happen but not that often. 10-10 also rare. Judges are taught that 10-10 should be very rare, and if you have too many it probably is a red flag that you are not focusing enough as a judge.

Scoring Ward over Kovalev, Garcia or Peterson or Herrera, Glaskov even with Scott, Canelo even with May......those are red flags.

Bowe-Golota II had a few rounds that could easily have been scored 10-8 without knockdowns.

Yeah. I believe there was one round that Merchant (and I think at least one official judge) scored 9-8 for Golota, in a round that didn't even have a knockdown.
