Would Calzaghe have been the best ever if his hands had stayed injury free?

Think about it. He was a devastating puncher in his early career - Eubank has said he hit harder than anyone he faced. Imagine that handspeed with the power and exciting, come forward style. He was never the same after the hand injuries, yet he still went undefeated. It's irrefutable - he really is Super Joe!

he was a much harder puncher no doubt when he was younger.
in the amatuers he stopped future world champs in glen catley and chris byrd as well as a few others .

probably done him a favour though his hands breaking so much /
turned him into a hybrid fighter /brawler/boxer/swarmer and made him much more rounded .

the older calzaghe would have beat the younger calzaghe

Well he was the best SMW ever with the best SMW resume ever but not sure he would have been considered the best ever as I dont think his frame would have gone through the divisions to be considered a great in that respect, but P4P arguably already is

Of course not. There simply wasn't the competition around that would give him that title even if he KO'd them all. Not downing him, but part of being TBE is being born in the right time period unfortunately.

I think he pulled a Floyd a couple of times and waited for guys to get old.

I dont think he or Floyd did that.
Calzaghe was the one chasing Hopkins and it was Hopkins who backed out years previously. He also was looking for a Jones fight but Jones (and understandably) decided to go to HW for the Ruiz fight

While not devastating Calzaghe had above average power before his hands went to ****. Certainly enough power to spark a Glass Jawed fighter like Roy Jones.

No, I said 'research' not digging out a YouTube clip which fits your narrative. But hey, baby steps...
