I think it's obvious why he wanted Kelly in 2006 and Roy in 2008.

He obviously saw them as non threatening opponents.

No, I dont think he would. I dont think he would have wanted the hassel of dropping back down a weight division that late in the game.

I can understand why he didn't want to fight Carl at the time, but he didn't do himself any favours with his comments and his actions.

You can understand why he garners criticism.

    Bingo
but if you want a so called legacy the fans are surely one of the best people to listen to pushing to create said legacy
And if said money was there a career high paid day then well no strap six months or so later there is
    Then leave no doubt
Meat loaf put it best two outs three ain't bad
Or you can do nothing but make baseless claims did Carl do that with groves nope
He left no stone unturned and no questions left to awnser
    Boom

Yeah and Dawson felt he would be fine dropping to 168 and we know he wasn't. Chris had a lot of weight to lose and it showed. Also, Dawson v JC was a natural fight that Dawson wanted but Joe went with a shot Jones and retired without facing the number 1 light heavyweight. Hopkins didn't think twice about it. There is an important difference there.

How do you see a fantasy fight between them playing out?

I think Joe would definitely have won, but I think it would have been harder than what a lot of people think.

If Reid could push JC then Carl would. Joe would win but wouldn't be too keen to do it again. It seems to be common consensus that Joe would box Carls head off but like you, I think it would be a real fight. Competitive but clear decision to JC. When Froch has no respect for an opponent's power, he is a handful.

Thats your opinion but I seeing as many favoured Jones in 08 I doubt that is 100% correct and Pavlike wasnt non threatening in 06. He was a KO machine back then

    That's how I see it.

If Joe could have kept his composure, he'd have had the ability to have won pretty comfortably. But realistically, I think their 2 egos would have clashed to make fireworks. The build up would have been heated, and I think Carl would have goaded him into a shootout. I think Carl would have been a big handful.

Eubank hadnt been making weight for title fights like Dawson so thats not a great example.
Dawson was a fight that had Calzaghe not retired, would have been one that should have come up, but Dawson wasnt what he became at that point and hadnt done much really other than beat Tarver not as well as Hopkins who Calzaghe had just beaten, but still to say Hopkins didnt think twice about that fight is ridiculous as Hopkins was the top LHW before Calzaghe beat him and didnt face Dawson and then after that loss to Calzaghe didnt face Dawson for another 4 years. Thats right 4 years, so your post here is a bit slim at best

Wasn't there not like a complete ban on anyone making calzaghe threads? They should uphold it before I start trolling for calzaghe
