I am confident he'd be linear champion. It would be a hard and difficult reign though. He'd be facing a bigger stronger man in literally every single defense, and some of these guys for all their flaws were just as dangerous or in some cases more so than Renaldo snipes or an aging Shavers. It would almost be like fighting Gerry Cooney over and over every 5 months

he would be a cruiserweight, if you think that a guy who weighed 209 pounds in his peak would be a hw today... you are dreaming, he was not specially fast of foot and was not specially strong, and did not hit particulary hard, would not be a smart decision to compete in current hw division with this description

Well he out boxed and out fought Gerry Cooney so I don't wanna hear any talk about size being a reason to favour someone over him.

Wlad is too old now to seriously favour over Holmes. In his prime I'm not sure the jab and grab works.

Fury, I don't think he's fast enough to outjab Holmes at range and he certainly isn't good enough to outbox him up close.

Prime Wlad has a decent chance but we'll never know. Joshua or Wilder have a chance of landing a ko shot but I think Holmes proved enough in his career to show that he has a solid chin.

I fancy his chances to hit 48-0 again.

We don't really know how good or bad Fury, Wilder and Joshua are, tho I have my suspicions. Wlad needs to go away. He's absolutely shot for the style that works for him. What seemed to be a promising division a couple years back is again a desert.

another bunch of **** post from you, congratulations..
gerry conney was a skinny 224 pounder in 6'6 of height, and probably physically the weakest 6'6 guy ever in boxing( hitting power has nothing to do with physical strength).
it is like saying that ali would not have problems with lennox lewis because he did beat earnie terrel.

Not only Larry was great boxer, he was very caucious boxer in most cases, too.

Also Larry had ATG recuperative ability combined with very good chin.

He'd be in some tough fights vs current giants, but his skills, heart, stamina and chin would keep him winning till mid 30s when he slows down (like it actually was in mid 80s)

The top prospects today are not yet tested.
    2 years will change that.

My feeling is that we are in the midst of a new golden age in boxing, including the heavyweight division.
I think for Holmes to get past Joshua Wilder and Fury would be tough tough tough.

He could do it. And the next two years will give us a better picture.
But he would really have to pull all the stops.

I think Povetkin would give him a stern test, but...

I agree with all the above. The heavyweight division is starting to show signs of life again, but only time will verify that. I furthermore concur that Holmes could have shined in this era, but like we both have said would have a very hard reign.. This new breed of heavyweights isn't exactly the epitome of superb boxing skill but there's a type of physicality it there that's never before been seen at this depth.
